International Traveling Classroom Seeks Faculty

The International Traveling Classroom (ITC) seeks UWRF faculty interested in leading and/or teaching students in Europe for fall semester 2026. In its new structure, the ITC will be led by one group leader for the entire semester and two short-term (3-4 weeks) faculty who temporarily join the group to teach intensive courses. The ITC is a semester-length education abroad program, starting in Scotland, that then takes students to Europe where they study, travel, and live in several countries.

Applications are now being accepted, until the positions are filled. Screening for will begin in November. Please note that we are seeking full-time, tenure-track faculty, and participation is subject to the needs of the candidate’s department, college, and the university.

Note: there are more limited handicapped facilities in Europe. For leaders and short-term faculty, this is a reasonably demanding, physical venture. For specific information about openings, including complete position descriptions and application materials, contact the Office of International Education or the ITC Coordinator list on this page.

Interested in Teaching with the ITC Program?

The International Traveling Classroom (ITC) provides a valuable and exciting academic adventure for students.  The ITC combines aspects of the UWRF’s short-term faculty-led programs and its semester-length programs.  Students have the opportunity to travel and study in various parts of Europe with structured classes and field experiences.  The students enroll in courses taught regularly at UWRF, earning credits towards their degree as part of the experience.

Prior to departure, students participate in intensive orientation sessions. ITC staff conduct orientations, take the group to Europe, and ensure the group’s travel, accommodation and other basic needs are met. Every student participant registers for a minimum of twelve credits taught either by the group leader or by additional staff. These are either full-time staff who accompany the group for the entire semester or short-term staff selected from UWRF who provide intensive, short-term courses. A typical group resides and studies for approximately 1-3 weeks in each of several countries, such as, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Austria.

Students meet regularly in organized classes, and the foreign locations offer fascinating learning experiences that simply cannot be obtained from typical, classroom-only courses taught at UWRF. In addition to group travel, students and staff have opportunities to engage in transitional or focused travel, either on weekends or during specified travel periods

For more information, please contact the ITC Coordinator or the leader listed on this page.
