Derek’s philosophy is helping students develop into well-rounded individuals by assisting their development of competence, purpose, and independence. Derek believes collaborative relationships with staff and faculty can enhance the student academic experience, but also their development as a person. Derek wants to instill confidence in his students that they can thrive in this environment and uncover their strengths to achieve academic success.

When Derek is not studying or attending a concert or sports event, you can find Derek doing something active, whether it’s a hike or working out.
