Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging

Jump Start

Jump Start your Falcon journey by signing up for UWRF’s early arrival program. Move in early and enjoy a full week of activities focusing on transitioning from high school to college, learning about different campus resources, academic readiness, and building a community with other first-year, transfer students, and the River Falls community. Each pathway has been uniquely designed to make you the most successful student you can be. The whole week will include small group, inter-group, and large group activities. Check out the different pathways we have and sign up today! We look forward to meeting you in August!

Ability Services

This program is designed specifically for students who identify as having a disability. The Ability Services Jumpstart Program helps first-year students get connected to the disability community at UWRF. This occurs by connecting first-year students with peer mentors, current students, Ability Services Staff, and our Ability Services Champions. Participants will learn about how to use academic accommodations at the college level, navigate the transition process, and access college resources. Participants are also given the opportunity to engage with their fellow peers to learn more about disability identity, pride, and disability culture on the River Falls campus. Students participating in this program are required to be registered for academic accommodations through the Ability Services office. To learn more about the basic eligibility requirements and starting this process, check out theAbility Services website.

Aspire Program

Students in this pathway will get to participants in activities focusing on transitioning to campus/college life, learning how to use the various technology on our campus, preparing for your first semester, connecting with the different resources and services, and meeting with new and current students at UWRF! Students will also get to learn specifically about the Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging, WiscAMP Scholars Program, and the Aspire Program.

Student Support Services

The TRIO SSS Jump Start program is for first-year SSS scholars who are first generation, limited income, and students with documented disabilities. SSS scholars will connect with SSS coaches and peer mentors, build community with other first year scholars, and learn how to navigate the UWRF campus and its resources. Scholars will learn about online campus programs including Canvas, eSIS, and Navigate along with campus departments to support success including Career Services, Tutoring, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging, and many more. Throughout the week, social, academic, and cultural programming will engage and connect participants.

My First Step

The My First Step section of Jump Start Program is hosted by the Student Success Center. It is designed for any first-year student who is looking to connect with other first-years, get partnered up with an upper-class peer mentor, and engage with our Faculty Champions. Participants will move in 1 week early, get to know their fellow participants, learn the ins and outs of life at UWRF, and explore the surrounding River Falls Community that you will call home.
