Location:  This position is located in the Division of Technology Services at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

Salary:  Starting salary is between $46,451 to $60,000 per year, depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits.  A six-month probationary period is required.  The pay schedule/range is 07-03.  This position is not represented by a bargaining unit.

Job Duties:  This is a professional staff position that assists in the daily delivery of customer focused Division of Technology Services (DoTS) technical support.   The scope of this position encompasses technology support through DoTS with an emphasis on the campus digital television system, distance learning systems, campus-owned AV equipment, controllers, and video conferencing equipment at UW-River Falls.

The Customer Technology Services (CTS) group is responsible for providing single contact support for a wide range of information technology services including campus/personally owned computers and peripherals, software, hardware, telecommunication, cellular, voicemail services, television, computer labs, technology enhanced classrooms and access to campus specific information technology resources.  The scope of the support provided by this position encompasses escalated technology support for all UWRF media and A/V technology items, products and systems.  This position contributes to the fast and thorough resolution of technology help requests while providing outstanding customer service under general supervision.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  Understanding of basic networking principles, network hardware, computer hardware, software, operating systems and peripherals.  Thorough understanding of teleconferencing, videoconferencing, presentation and other AV hardware and controller systems and configuration and equipment.  Knowledge and practice of interpersonal skills needed to address potentially difficult situations and customers.  Knowledge of training skills and techniques and effective individual and group presentation skills and techniques.  Candidates must have a familiarity with both Mac and Windows operating systems and a demonstrated technical competence in a computer support environment and knowledge of information systems technology and operations.  Must have critical thinking and problem solving skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical people; and ability to introduce and explain highly technical concepts in a manner that is easy for people with varying levels of technical expertise to understand.  An Associate’s degree in broadcasting, telecommunications, electronics or equivalent training plus relevant work experience is strongly preferred.  One or more of the following industry certifications are strongly preferred:  Extron, Crestron, AMX, CTS, CTS-D, CTS-I (Infocomm).
