The Position:

The Financial Aid office seeks a key Financial Aid counselor to provide counseling (advising, responding,reviewing, verifying, and exercising professional judgment) for prospective and current students and their parents regarding available federal, state, and institutional financial aid in support of the academic mission of University of Wisconsin River-Falls.

In addition to the counseling duties stated above, this position shares duties with other counselors for: all federal, state, institutional,and external scholarships and grants, Federal Work Study awards, verification, responsibilities for Financial Aid website,institutional scholarship lead coordinator duties, compliance, and other internal duties and/or work with academic departments and other student services offices as needed. Compensation is based on qualifications, including education and experience.

Qualifications (Required)

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required
  • Previous experience working in higher education in a Financial Aid office
  • Experience counseling students in a financial aid setting
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to diverse student populations and ability to contribute to the University's commitment to enhancing student awareness and appreciation of diverse ethnic and cultural heritages.

Qualifications (Preferred)

  • Education: Master's degree preferred
  • Demonstrated ability working with grants, federal work study and scholarships
  • Demonstrated ability to work with an integrated database or similar technology
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a wide variety of individuals across departments
  • Additional enrollment services experience desirable: admissions, outreach, veterans office, and/or other areas of a college campus.
