Finding Your Fit on Campus

A student in a big

Have you found your fit on campus?

When you are still getting settled in your first year, getting connected on campus can seem challenging. At UW-River Falls, we have so many different options for students to connect with one another, it might seem overwhelming to choose what to check out first. There are options like Greek Life organizations, religious clubs, or intramural sports!

Perhaps none of those options interest you….

What about our table top game clubs, or an academic club?

Still not seeing something you are interested in? Fear not!

While there is bound to be something you are interested in across the over 150 clubs and orgs on campus, you still might not find the one that gets to your greatest interests. Instead, you may have your own ideas for a club that you would like to create. Enter: Student Involvement!

Through the Student Involvement office, you can create your own organization simply by finding 3 other Falcons who also are interested in your club and a UWRF faculty or staff member to be the advisor for your organization. Once you’ve got the people you need in place, simply need to fill out the New Student Organization Application and boom! You’re on your way to starting your own club.

Another great way to get involved is by simply going to different events put on around campus such as athletic events, Bingo night, and your residence hall events. Going to these events is a great way to meet people in your community and connect with peers who have similar interests. However, getting connected doesn’t mean you have to go to big events or start a new club. It can be as simple as talking to the person you have been sitting next to in class or sitting with a stranger at lunch. If you are going to sit alone, you might as well sit alone together.

There are many ways to connect and get involved on campus. What we have shared here are only a few ideas for you to get started, and not every group or event is going to be right for everybody. Keep looking for what you are interested in and you’ll find something! Feel free to reach out to different orgs, clubs, and departments on campus to get information on what they do to see if you would be interested in joining.
