COVID-19 Operations Team

Period of activity until further notice.

Chancellor Maria Gallo charges this team with:

  • Identifying, reviewing and analyzing all aspects of campus operations that are or may be impacted by COVID-19 protocols and mitigation steps.
     
  • Making operational-level decisions that do not impact course delivery or the on-campus student experience. Any decisions with such impacts will be brought to the Chancellor’s Cabinet for discussion. Final decisions rest with the chancellor.
     
  • Presenting weekly operational updates to senior leadership to facilitate sharing of information and implementation of new strategies or tactics.


The Operations Team will meet at least weekly:

HEALTH - Debbie Janis: leads COVID-19 testing and vaccination planning and execution; contact tracing, Q&I contingency plans; main point of contact for Pierce County Public Health (PCPH)

RESIDENCE LIFE - Karla Thoennes:  discusses COVID-19 residence hall protocols, helps develop policies and practices to ensure safety and wellbeing of student residents

HUMAN RESOURCES - Michelle Best: consults on any changes to polices or practices that will impact employees

COMMUNICATIONS - Dina Fassino: coordinates internal and external communications and media relations; oversees cross-campus communications

ACADEMIC AFFAIRS - David Travis, Provost: Inform and engage UWRF faculty, bring questions and concerns to the COVID operations team, key point of contact for faculty and instructors.

ACADEMIC AFFAIRS - Dean Yohnk, Dean, College of Arts and Sciences: brings questions and concerns to the COVID operations team, key point of contact for faculty and instructors in the College of Arts and Sciences

ACADEMIC AFFAIRS - Dale Gallenberg, Dean, College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences: brings questions and concerns to the COVID operations team, key point of contact for faculty and instructors in the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences

ACADEMIC AFFAIRS - Stacy Furness, Interim Dean, College of Education and Professional Studies: brings questions and concerns to the COVID operations team, key point of contact for faculty and instructors in the College of Education and Professional Studies

ACADEMIC AFFAIRS - Dawn Hukai, Acting Dean, College of Business and Economics: brings questions and concerns to the COVID operations team, key point of contact for faculty and instructors in the College of Business and Economics

STUDENT SUCCESS - Jamie Zamjahn: participates as needed further to UW System SSAO meetings related to COVID-19; consulted on any changes to policies or practices that will impact students   

STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION- Brigitte Ledferd, SGA President: represents the voice of UWRF students, point of contact for students, develop student engagement strategies to support university testing and vaccination campaigns.

FACULTY SENATE – Doug Margolis: represents the voice of UWRF faculty and instructors

ACADEMIC STAFF COUNCIL - Kellen Wells-Mangold: represents the voice of UWRF Academic Staff

UNIVERSITY STAFF SENATE - Jody Sather: represents the voice of UWRF University Staff

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT - Joe Kmiech: participates as needed on emergent COVID-19 issues; monitors and identifies need for EMT support or EOC activation

IT/TECHNOLOGY - Jason Winget: participates as needed to consult on use and optimization of COVID-19 portal/iOps system; data retrieval for vaccine verification, etc.
