The mission of the English Language Transition (ELT) Program is to assist non-native English learners to develop and strengthen the knowledge and language skills necessary to achieve their academic, professional, and personal goals. The ELT Program provides a supportive learning environment for students while fostering social and intercultural understanding.
The goal of the ELT Program is to strengthen student's academic skills. This goal is accomplished by a variety of classroom activities including:
UW-River Falls offers ESL courses at the following levels: intermediate and advanced. Students are placed in classes based on the ELT Placement Procedures. Students can start at the beginning of the semester or in the middle of the semester.
An important part of the International Student experience is to learn about the people and customs of the United States. The UWRF Office of Student Life has many opportunities for students to be involved on campus and in the community.
Students can use the English as a Second Language Center for Speaker's Corner or extra tutoring help. Information on hours are located on the website.
