Notes A rider weight policy has been developed to uphold animal welfare and to protect the health and safety of our students and school horses. Our school horses are capable of carrying weight categories based on their size, age, health and fitness. Students entering their first riding class at UWRF will fill out a form assessing their equine experience, height, weight, and fitness level, and will be assigned a horse accordingly. Based on the horse herd, limited ability may exist to accommodate numerous riders in categories 4 and 5 (listed below). If accommodation is not possible, there are alternative equine courses to prepare you for career goal (academic advisor can assist in this process). If you have questions or concerns, please contact the course instructor. CATEGORY 1: Up to 155 pounds; CATEGORY 2: 156-175 pounds; CATEGORY 3: 176-200 pounds; CATEGORY 4: 201-225 pounds; CATEGORY 5: Over 225 pounds
