UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN River Falls

Chancellor's Scholars

Welcome

The Chancellor’s Scholars Scholarship at UW-River Falls is our most elite and most selective scholarship, providing either a $4,000 or $8,000 yearly scholarship to a small number of full-time in-coming first-year students. In addition to the scholarship that is renewable for up to four years providing students stay in good academic standing with at least a 3.0GPA, students are also eligible to apply for a stipend of up to $2,000 to be used for a university-sanctioned educational study abroad experience or an undergraduate research project once they have met specific criteria.

But being a chancellor’s scholar means more than simply receiving a scholarship. Being selected as a chancellor’s scholar means you have stood out from a crowd of intelligent, involved, and dedicated students. Each year, only 1-2% of those who submit high-quality complete applications are awarded a scholarship, and all of those who are selected become unofficial ambassadors for UWRF. As such, we encourage you to pursue leadership activities on campus while also getting involved with the variety of student groups and clubs we have. As a group of chancellor’s scholars, you will be invited to an exclusive meal with the chancellor in the fall and then in the spring, your work and involvement will be highlighted in an invitation-only event called the Chancellor’s Scholars Showcase. As a chancellor’s scholar, you are the top of the top and we celebrate this at UWRF.

You can apply for this scholarship through our Academic Works scholarship platform if you have an impressive record of leadership and involvement as well as one of the following qualifications:

  • An ACT of 28+ or
  • A class rank of at least the top 10% of your graduating class or
  • A high school GPA of at least a 3.80.

In addition to the general application, to be considered for the Chancellor’s Scholars Scholarship, you must also submit:

  • An essay on the topic assigned at the link above
  • A letter of recommendation from a school counselor, teacher, mentor, community member, supervisor, etc. who can speak to your academic and leadership experience. Once you enter the information for your reference in the application, that person will receive an email with directions on how to submit the letter of recommendation through the Academic Works platform. Applicants are responsible for reminding letter writers of the due date since incomplete applications will not be considered.
