Teacher Candidate Professional Development Day

About the Event

Teacher Candidate Professional Development Day is hosted each semester for our current student teachers. The College of Education and Professional Studies requires event attendance for students.  

Event Features:

  • Information sessions on cover letters, application essays, substitute teaching, and more
  • Mock interviews with K-12 hiring administrators
  • Resume and cover letter help tables 
  • K-12 Education Career Fair 
  • Q&A panel with school administrators sharing insight and advice

 

Student teacher candidates are required to attend this event. 

Students who are not yet in their student teaching practice, but are interested in networking with school districts and employers of interest, are welcome to attend the K-12 Education Career Fair from 12:30 - 2 p.m. 

Mock Interview Information 

Students may participate in a 30-minute mock interview with a school district hiring administrator during the event.

Mock Interviews will take place from 9:30-12:00 p.m. in the Riverview Ballroom, University Center. 

Students who signed up to participate in mock interviews will receive their pre-assigned time at least one week prior to the event. 

If you did not sign up to particpate in a mock interview during student teacher orientation, but would like to sign up, please email amber.ristow@uwrf.edu. 

K-12 Education Career Fair Information 

12:30 - 2 p.m.
Riverview Ballroom, UC

Network and connect with school districts and employers that are hiring, learn about substitute teaching in Minnesota and Wisconsin, and talk to representatives from professional organizations. 

All education majors are welcome to attend.

There are two opportunities to engage with teacher candidates and education-related majors during Teacher Candidate Professional Development Day: mock interviews and the K-12 Education Career Fair.

Mock Interviews - FREE

Mock interviews will take place from 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Students are pre-assigned a 30-minute time slot with a school administrator. Administrators are expected to ask the provided questions, evaluate student answers, and provide feedback. There is no cost associated with participation in mock interviews. Participation is voluntary, and lunch will be served to those who volunteer their time.

Please note: mock interviews are for school district administrators and school district hiring professionals only, and space is limited.

K-12 Education Career Fair - $125

12:30 - 2 p.m. 
Riverview Ballroom, University Center 

Includes one 6-foot table and one parking pass, lunch is not provided. 

Both Mock Interviews and K-12 Education Career Fair - $125

You do not need to attend the K-12 Education Career Fair in order to participate in mock interviews but are welcome to participate in both. Cost to participate in both the career fair and mock interviews is $125 and includes one 6-foot table, one parking pass, and lunch.
