1. Log into your Handshake account via the "Current Students" tab on the following page using your W# and university password: https://www.uwrf.edu/CareerServices/HandshakeLogin.cfm 

2. Click on the "Jobs" tab at the top of the page and then "On-Campus Interviews". Your screen will filter out jobs on the left that don't apply. 

3. Scroll through the jobs on the left hand side of the screen and click on "Virtual Resume Cafe". 

4. Click "Virtual Resume Cafe" under "Related Jobs" in the middle of your screen

5. Click the red "Quick Apply" button in the center of your screen

6. You'll be prompted with a pop-up, choose the green "Submit Application" button. 

7. After you've submitted an application, you'll receive a confirmation e-mail to your UWRF email address confirming that your application was successfully submitted. 

8. Click the link in the e-mail where it says "Please make sure you choose your slot as soon as possible: UWRF- Career Services - Virtual Resume Cafe. 

9. After clicking the link, you'll be brought back to Handshake where you can choose a time slot that works with your schedule. Choose a slot. 

10. Be sure to record the time you signed up for as well as who the "interviewer" (aka employer) is that you'll be meeting with. Attendance is required once you sign up. 

Update your resume
If it has been a while since you last updated your resume, be sure to do so prior to the event. Review Career Service's guidance on Resume Writing here, and consider scheduling an appointment with a Peer Adviser for additional feedback. 

Know the logistics
In order for you to have a successful experience at the Virtual Resume Cafe, you have to do your part just like the employer has to do theirs. The Virtual Resume Cafe takes place via Microsoft Teams.

After registering for a time slot, click the location link in your confirmation email to join the Virtual Resume Cafe Microsoft Team. Do this right away as a Career Services staff member needs to approve your membership to the team prior to November 5. 

When registration closes, you will receive an email with instructions on how to navigate the platform on the day of the event. Please review these before your resume review. 

Test your technology, find a quiet space, and be mindful of your background 
Although it's likely that you utilize virtual platforms often, it's always a good idea to test your technology. Your actual resume review will involve video chatting and sharing your screen. Consider this while preparing for your review. This is a casual event. However, be mindful that you'll be meeting with an employer (who might be hiring!). Ensure you'll have a quiet space with a professional backdrop to do the review.
