COVID-19 Updates

When the Falcon Center reopens, we expect the following equipment will be available pending major policy changes due to the evolving pandemic:

  • The above decisions were made through recommendations and guidance from the CDC, WDH, and University.

Per University policy and the Governor of Wisconsin's Emergency Order, face coverings are required while indoors.

Most people can perform their regular workouts while wearing a face covering, which will provide protection from virus spread for everyone. It is essential to remind exercise enthusiasts to monitor how they feel during the workout and to take particular notice if they feel dizzy, lightheaded, or short of breath Individuals with a pre-existing respiratory or cardiovascular condition are encouraged to take caution when exercising with a face mask (Capritto, 2020).

Faculty/Staff Only:

  • Recurring Memberships - If you were on recurring billing prior to March 16th, you were charged $0.01 every deduction date since the closure to keep you active in the system. On September 17th, we will begin regular deductions again; however, you will regain access to the Falcon Center Fitness Center and Falcon Outdoor Adventures (based on previous membership) starting on August 24th.
    • Due to unique memberships with different recurring billing dates, we will restart recurring billing charges on September 17th.  If you are normally billed on the 5th of each month, for example, you will not see a charge again until October 5th allowing you access from August 24th-September 16th for FREE and September 17th-October 4th to make up for the days missed in March/April.
  • Monthly Memberships - Your membership was put on hold during the closure and all unused days were stored.  From August 24th-September 7th, all monthly members will have FREE access to the Falcon Center Fitness Center and Falcon Outdoor Adventures (based on previous membership).  Starting on September 8th, any stored dates will be added until all days are used.
    • Due to unique membership start dates, it is possible a member could have 1 stored day giving them access from August 24th-September 8th while another member could have 21 stored days giving them access from August 24th-September 28th.

Community Memberships:

  • There is no timeline for reopening to community members (including family members connected to student/faculty/staff).  Information will be posted and emailed to members when it becomes available.

UWRF students with 8+ credits do not need to purchase a membership at this time and will have access starting on August 24th.

  • Friday - 9am-2pm, 7pm-9pm
  • Saturday - 1pm-5pm

Campus Recreation reserves the right to refuse service/access to any patron.

Campus Recreation will operate with a zero-tolerance policy throughout the reopening phases. Failure to follow the posted guidelines and policies will result in being asked to leave, possible suspension for the remainder of the reopening phase, and no refund.

We understand that change is hard and our phased approach to re-opening has been embraced by some and has constrained others. Your health and safety is our number one priority. We are confident that this phased approach is the best way to prioritize the health and well-being of our members, staff, and the communities we serve.

We have been and will continue to work with local health professionals, our cleaning supply company, UWRF leadership, public health personnel, and college recreation colleagues to ensure best practices are maintained. And we will continue to listen to members’ concerns and making adjustments as needed. Please let us know what we can do to make you feel more comfortable and safe.

Reopening guidelines issued by the state of Wisconsin and national organizations discourages shared equipment especially if difficult to clean or disinfect.  This guideline follows best practices in the industry. 

In addition to the patron cleaning before and after use, Campus Recreation Staff will clean all equipment surfaces multiple times per day.  High touch surfaces (door handles, turnstiles, etc.) will be cleaned continuously throughout the day.  Falcon Center Operations Staff will completely disinfect the facility every night.  All cleaning procedures will be tracked for assurance.

We use Clorox Commercial Solutions Clorox Total 360 Disinfectant Cleaner and Peroxide Multi Surface Cleaner and Disinfectant.  These products are a one-step, cleaning, disinfectant. It is effective on hard and soft surfaces and safe for skin contact.

Wisconsin guidelines recommend physical distancing of at least 6 feet while exercising.  It is in the best interest of the Falcon Center community that we ensure compliance with this guideline, so spotting and sharing equipment will be prohibited during this time.  We ask that you alter weights or exercise type to maintain safety.

Yes, locker service refunds will be issued on a case by case bases.  We offer multiple options for locker services so depending on what you purchased and how many days you were not able to use your locker a refund will be issued.  Please fill out this form to let us know when you are able to pickup the items in your locker.  A Campus Rec professional staff member will have your items bagged and ready for you to pickup.  If you don’t contact us and schedule to pickup your items, your locker will be cleared out 2 weeks after we reopen.  Items will be stored at the facility for approximately 4 weeks after the clear out date and then brought to Campus Security.
