Program at a Glance

The Counseling Program prepares graduate students to work as professional school counselors in diverse K-12 school settings. Upon graduation, students will have a Master of Science in Education (M.S.E.), which contributes to their professional license qualifications. CACREP accredited since 2016.

  • Small class sizes, evening class meetings, customizable degree plans.
  • Direct and frequent interaction with faculty members.
  • Located just outside the Twin Cities, we have classes at the main River Falls campus.
  • Diverse graduate student learners from many professional backgrounds.
  • The 2021 CACREP Outcomes Report for our school counseling program shows that 18 students graduated from the program during the 2020-2021 academic year, and, of the students who choose to take the exam, 100% passed the Praxis Exam. Overall, 98.5% of students complete the program within the expected time period. Data from 2020-2021 reveals that of our graduates seeking school counseling employment, 100% obtained positions as school counselors. Over the last 5 years, 96% of our graduates have obtained school counseling positions when seeking such positions.

Upcoming Events 

We are now offering in-person and online open house events! Online open house events are an opportunity to meet virtually via video call. Open houses are an opprtunity to ask questions about the program, hear testimonials, and interact with current students, applicants, and program faculty.

  • Zoom Open Houses- Drop in and chat with Dr. Baker and others! Click the link during one of the times below, stay as long as you like!

    • When? Next one will be spring 2022- stay tuned!
    • Where? Walker D. Wyman Education Building. Park in the surrounding neighborhoods for free or in metered lots on campus. Here's a campus map: https://www.uwrf.edu/AboutUs/Explore/
    • What? A time to meet current faculty and students to learn more about our programs.
    • How? You can join the open house at any time during this 90 minutes and stay as long as you find helpful. Please wear a mask as it is required in UWRF buildings.
