Future: Unknown for the moment. (Offers haven’t been made yet)

Wipfli is an accounting firm that has over 50 offices nationwide. It provides a large number of services such as auditing and accounting, tax, consulting, cybersecurity, technology consulting and compliance. Wipfli works in a lot of different industries including financial institutions, construction and real estate, manufacturing, healthcare, nonprofits, agribusiness, dealerships, private client, and many more.

The main role of my internship was to prepare individual, business, and fiduciary tax returns for many of the clients our firm served. I worked on a large variety of returns, including business tax returns for partnerships and S-Corps, 990 and 990-T returns for nonprofit organizations, individual returns, gift tax returns, and trust returns. Other roles I had were attending the various training sessions that were offered to interns and attending our weekly tax staff meetings to discuss any new updates.

I achieved many goals during my internship. The main goal I had coming into my internship was to learn how to prepare a variety of different tax returns. Another goal I achieved during my internship was learning how to use different accounting software. I got to build new professional relationships and I also got to grow professionally and receive lots of feedback regarding my work.

I really enjoyed my internship and preparing taxes is something I can see myself doing in the future. Getting to work in public accounting was a great experience and I think it’s a good fit for me.

Advice to peers: I recommend going to as many Career Services events as possible, as well as Accounting Society meetings. By attending these events, the company will see that you are interested, and they will remember you. I also recommend working in as many different areas that you can. That way you can see what areas most interested you.
