UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN River Falls

Alumni Stories

Steve Wilcox '74

From my first step in 1969 onto campus and into the greenhouse on top of Ag-Sci for the beginning of 13 quarters of work study through the many steps up and down the Karges Gym basketball court culminating in the overall traversing of the campus learning the sciences, art and geography each step framed my future. I left the campus and purchased 7 greenhouses at a sheriff's auction the first of 6 businesses over my 40+ year business career that included the appreciation of art, basketball for fitness and the love of travel....all institutional gifts I continue to enjoy. I had many classes in houses that are now where buildings of campus life now stand, visiting the University Center leaves a remarkable memory of the innovation and transformation that is now UW-RF. - Steve Wilcox, 1974, Biology
