Admitted Student Updates for 2020

Like you, we've been learning about the coronavirus (COVID-19) and how it's impacting our world. At UW-River Falls, that means understanding how it affects our campus and the community, and then making the necessary adjustments to our operations. Below is the information we're able to provide at this time. We will continue to monitor recommendations from local and national officials and will provide updates to this web-page as additional decisions are made.

First and foremost, please take care of yourself and your loved ones. We know this is a difficult time, but we will get through it together. We're here to help, so if you have any questions or need assistance, let us know. We want to make sure you're ready to join the Falcon Family in the fall! 

All on-campus visits and admissions events are cancelled until further notice. What a bummer, right? We're proud of our campus and would love to share it with you. We also know that visiting campus is really important to you when making college decisions. Trust us, you'll be the first to know when we're ready to have you back on campus! Virtual Campus Tour: Our Falcon Guides will show you around campus and highlight academic buildings, social opportunities, residence halls, and more. They'll help you catch a glimpse of life as a Falcon.

Virtual VisitsJust like on campus, but from the comfort of your home! An Admissions Counselor will share information about admissions, academic programs, cost & financial aid, campus life, & more! Admissions Overview: Executive Director of Admissions, Sarah Nelson, highlights a few important topics for you to consider as you explore UW-River Falls. This video covers updated information on COVID-19 and how it impacts you as an admitted student. 

Academic Sessions: Faculty from each area of study talk about their academic programs. Learn more about the experiences and opportunities you'll have as a student in your program of study. 

Admitted Prior to March 15, 2020:

Your Financial Aid Award was sent through the postal service. 

Admitted After March 15, 2020:

Your Financial Aid Award will be sent via email. 

If you have questions about your Financial Aid Award or if you want to know how changes to your family's financial situation may impact your status, please contact the Financial Aid Office at finaid@uwrf.edu

Pass/Fail Grading System

Some high schools have moved to a pass/fail grading system for the remainder of this academic year. Don't worry if your school has made this change; we'll honor your admission as long as you meet or exceed your high school graduation requirements.

Graduating Early

Some high schools have made the decision to graduate seniors early.  As long as you meet or exceed your high school graduation requirements, we will maintain your admission status. 

Housing Contract

You still have time to complete your housing contract for Fall 2020. If you've already submitted: way to go, you're all set!

Roommate Assignments

  • Roommate assignments will be communicated early July.
  • Found a roommate? Great! Be sure to request them in the housing contract.
  • No roommate yet? You still have some time! Here are some ways to find a roommate:

Financial Hardship

If you are unable to complete your housing contract and deposit due to financial hardship, please contact us.

Commuting to Campus

If you're eligible and plan to commute to campus, don't forget to complete the Commuter Form

New Student Move-In (Late August)

New Student Move-In for Fall 2020 will continue as planned. 

Start of Classes (Early September)

Classes for Fall 2020 will begin in early September as planned.

All New Student Registration programs in June and on August 3rd will be offered remotely for Fall 2020. During this virtual program, you will connect with an adviser, register for your courses, connect with other new students, and get your questions answered on the date you signed up for. We'll have a student panel and opportunities for you to connect with orientation leaders to learn more about the UWRF experience!

Please send all documents for admission files electronically.

  • High school transcripts should be sent via email to admissions@uwrf.edu or through an electronic transcript service.
  • College transcripts should be sent through an electronic transcript service.
  • ACT or SAT test scores should be sent via email to admissions@uwrf.edu or directly from ACT or CollegeBoard (SAT).

*Please note that any documents sent through the postal service may be delayed. 

The UW Placement Test

The UW System Placement Tests were cancelled in response to COVID-19. Please view our current Placement Testing policy here

AP, CLEP, & IB Tests

We'll honor the decisions that Advanced Placement (AP), College Level Examination Program (CLEP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) make in regard to their testing plans and procedures for earning college credit. 

ACT & SAT

Some ACT and SAT testing sessions have been cancelled. If you were planning to retake the ACT or SAT to earn or boost your Scholarship Guarantee, follow the instructions for rescheduling provided by the testing service. Remember, you may submit new ACT or SAT test scores for consideration for a Scholarship Guarantee up until the start of the term.
