Disability Parking

The Ability Services office is able to arrange a temporary disability parking permit for students who submit a disability parking application that's been signed by a doctor. Such a special parking permit is only valid on campus. Please contact the Parking Office (715-425-3133) to find out how you can tell where those parking spots are. The special permit expires after 30 days and cannot be renewed through any UWRF office.

The application for this can be found in the website of a Department of Transportation (DOT). Every state has such a website. Students should use the DOT website that goes with the state where their vehicle is licensed.

Students who may need disability parking for more than 30 days, or need it somewhere other than on campus should attempt to acquire a disability parking permit directly from their state's DOT. Directions for doing that should be in the DOT's website.

Some students seek both kinds of disability parking permits. They seek one from UWRF because it can be arranged pretty quickly and also seek the more widely applicable permit from their state's DOT. While a temporary permit from UWRF is free, a permit from the DOT may involve a fee.
