Making Plans

An accommodation is usually not ready to use at a moment's notice. There must be time to get it ready. The reasons are because:

  • An accommodation must usually be custom tailored to a unique student and the ever changing focus of a given course.
  • It's quite rare a student uses an accommodation in a consistent way.
  • Professors and the staff of Ability Services can't accurately predict when the student wants to use it.
  • Planning an accommodation often requires collaboration between three busy parties: the student, professor, and Ability Services.
  • The number of students and professors supported by Ability Services prevents the office from getting to know all of them on an individual basis.
