Laptop & Software Requirements

Affected Programs

  • Graphic Design
  • Photography

Commencing in the Fall 2019 Semester, students seeking coursework in graphic design or photography will be required to have a laptop capable to run specified Adobe software.

Laptop Specifications

Use the Recommended Specifications for InDesign if student plans on mainly studying basic graphic design and/or photography practices. Use the Recommended Specifications for Premiere Pro if student also plans on taking classes in video editing. It is highly suggested that laptops meet the Recommended Specifications, not minimum. Minimum requirements will work, but much more slowly, and may become frustrating to students at times.

Applications heavily used:

  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Adobe InDesign
  • Adobe Lightroom Classic
  • Adobe Photoshop

Applications lightly used:

  • Adobe After Effects
  • Adobe Premiere Pro

Other software will also be used. System requirements for Adobe software can be found on the Adobe website:

Software Requirement

Students will need a subscription to the Adobe Creative Cloud to access Adobe software on their laptops. Adobe Creative Cloud subscriptions can be purchased online from adobe: Make sure to select the student plan to access the student discount—sign up with your UWRF email address.
