Recognition of Prior Learning

Recognition of prior learning may be a good option to help you acquire credits and complete your degree faster. Credits may be obtained through the following:


UW-River Falls partners with LearningCounts to provide recognition of prior learning opportunities for adult learners. The program involves enrolling in a 6-8 week online course. During the course you will outline your experience and develop a portfolio that will be reviewed for college credit. You've learned a lot and you may as well get credit for it. College Level Examination Program (CLEP)

The University of Wisconsin-River Falls awards credit for the CLEP examinations as approved by the UWRF CLEP Policy. Credit earned through CLEP exams may be applied toward general education requirements, but not toward core courses required for your major.

Military Credit

Are you a currently serving member or veteran of the United States military? You may be able to receive credit toward your degree from education and training opportunities that you have participated in.
