FOSTER AND ADOPTIVE CARE

Foster Care and Adoption Resource Center -the Foster Care and Adoption Resource Center provides information and resources for Wisconsin’s

  • Existing or Prospective Foster and Adoptive Families
  • Public, Tribal and Private Agency Foster Care, Child Welfare and Adoption Staff
  • Youth currently or previous involved with the Foster Care system

SITES WITH FOSTER PARENT ON-LINE TRAINING

Alaskan Foster Parent Training Site - Free on-line 2-3 hour trainings

Foster Parent College - A wide variety of 2 hour trainings. $10 each but can readily get scholarship thru website for 4 trainings.

Foster Care and Adoptive Community - Many on-line trainings for less than $10.

Adoption: Where Families Come Together - Wisconsin specific site with a great deal of information of all kinds for birthmothers and adoptive parents.

Adoption Book Catalog - Useful site with publications list and also adoption specific information including how to talk to you child about adoption.

Adoptive Families - Adoptive Families magazine is a valuable, even critical, resource for many, many families. Whether families are considering adoption or have already adopted, the magazine quickly becomes one of their most trusted friends and a source of independent, thoughtful information.

The Center For Children and Families - The Center was founded in 1919 with a mission to protect children from abuse and neglect.

Connect For Kids - Building communities for kids and families.

Early Childhood Information Clearinghouse - This site provides information about young children, birth to age three, including links to Idaho programs and worldwide information, current practice and research, and child development information.

FACES of Adoption: America's Waiting Children

Family Works - Family Works, Inc. is licensed by the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services to provide an intensive treatment option for children and youth with complex needs.

Foster Care Agency - This site is designed to foster "connections" among new, experienced and prospective foster parents.

Foster Parent Community - Extensive list of articles, blogs, etc.

National CASA - Volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) are everyday people who are appointed by judges to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children. A CASA volunteer stays with each child until they are placed into a safe, permanent and nurturing home.

National Center for Missing and Exploited Children

National Foster Parent Association - The National Foster Parent Association (NFPA) is a nonprofit volunteer organization established in 1972.

National Resource Center for Foster Care and Permanency Planning

National Youth in Care - The NYICN assists local youth in care groups in their development by providing them with information and contacts, support, and encouragement.
