Between July 29 and August 5, 2009 an online survey was conducted on uwrf.edu asking visitors about their impressions of the current uwrf.edu Web site. A summary of the results from 531 respondents, of varying audience groups, is as follows:

There were significant differences in the use and assessment of the Web site across current students, university employees, alumni and other external users.

(Note: The survey result are one of several tools being utilized to guide the redesign of uwrf.edu.)

General Findings

  • Overall, only about 5% of respondents said they didn’t find what they were looking for.
  • Respondents were more satisfied with the readability than any other aspect of the site.

Faculty, Staff, and Students Findings

  • Faculty-staff-administrators had relatively high levels of dissatisfaction with the site
  • Faculty-staff-administrators and students are on and off the site quickly
  • Faculty-staff-administrators are generally on the Web site daily
  • Faculty-staff-administrators are significantly less satisfied with the site’s readability, which is surprising given their apparent familiarity with the site
  • Faculty-staff-administrators are significantly less satisfied with the site navigation than external audiences

External Respondents

  • Relatively few “external” users took the survey compared to faculty staff and administrators
  • 40% said the website reduced their impression of the University
  • Nearly half are dissatisfied with the site’s organization
  • 18% of external respondents were first time visitors.
