UWRF WEB SITE DEVELOPMENT POLICY SUMMARY
Follow these REQUIREMENTS:
- Do use a UW-River Falls campus official Web development template (more)
- Do use Dreamweaver to update a campus office or department page (more)
- Do consider the audience you wish to address (more)
- Do maintain as few pages as necessary (more)
- Do link to existing content created elsewhere (don't duplicate course catalog information, maps, etc)
- Do update your site regularly
- Do remember that your site is a reflection on your office or department and is viewed as a recruitment tool . Does it appear outdated or appear unprofessional?
- Do create standard Web pages, do not create frames based Web pages (more)
- Do use alt tags to describe photographs and images (more)
- Do resize each photo to the exact screen width you wish to have them appear (more)
- Do write succinctly (more)
- Do use a hierarchy of page title, page section headers and paragraph text (more)
- Do spend more time on content than with "layout and design"
- Do describe links to pages that are not HTML such as pdf's and word documents (more)
- Do name files properly (more)
- Do be aware if standards are not met Web sites will be hindered from receiving audience traffic (more)
- Do use PDF documents sparingly and break up multiple page documents in to four page files or less (more)
