Maximum enrollment for each University of Wisconsin System institution is determined by UW System Administration in consultation with the administration and faculty at each campus. At UWRF, the head count enrollment is currently set at approximately 6100 students - about 300-400 of whom are graduate students and the rest undergraduates. New freshmen for fall term 2007 numbered about 1300. The University enrolls about 400 new transfer students each fall.
The majority of the University's students come from Wisconsin; however, given its unique location, it is not surprising that there is a large population of students from Minnesota . A number of other states and foreign countries are also represented in the student body. About 60% of the University's overall enrollment are women.
