EDUCATING THROUGH DIVERSITY AT UWRF: Plan 2008

Campus scene in winterUW-River Falls and the University of Wisconsin System are committed to increasing diversity and fostering a diverse, inclusive, and supportive campus climate. In 1998, the UW System instituted Plan 2008: Educational Quality through Ethnic Diversity. River Falls developed several initiatives in the areas of increasing enrollment, retention, and graduation rates of students of color; increasing diversity of faculty, academic staff, classified staff, and administrators of color; and supporting a learning environment and course development that demonstrate respect for racial and ethnic diversity.

UW-River Falls and other system institutions are starting Phase II of Plan 2008 with a particular focus on the retention and graduation rates of students of color. UW-River Falls has received recognition for its diversity efforts, including the 2003 Educational Diversity Award from Wisconsin’s Office of State Employment Relations and the 2004 Golden Award from the National Association of College and Auxiliary Services.
