A 2009 Spring Break Study Tour, March 11-22

Travel to modern Turkey and discover the deep roots of eight different civilizations. A cultural crossroads for
millennia, the country offers rich historical context for developing global literacy.
This unique study tour will delve into the history, politics, culture and economy of Turkey with a special
emphasis on the country’s business environment. Participants will interact with Turkish business leaders,
attend presentations by faculty of Istanbul University and Izmir 9 Eylul University, and visit a host of historical
and cultural sites. The tour promises up-close exposure to the people of Turkey, its government officials, and its
economic institutions.
Led by Ozcan Kilic, UW-River Falls management and marketing assistant professor and native of Turkey,
the study tour offers valuable experience for students seeking global leadership development.

Tour Details
Participants will travel to Istanbul and Izmir, two of
Turkey’s major cities, and visit historic sites in and
around those cities, including Ephesus, the Topkapi
Palace and the Harem. Lectures, presentations and
tours will be conducted in English.
Accommodations will be in four star hotels in
Istanbul and Izmir.
Students earn three credits as part of CBE 370:70.
Cost
A special course fee of $2,800 will be assessed
on top of tuition. The fee covers all transportation
and lodging. Additional programmatic fees apply.*
