Campus:

  • The campus no longer needs to pay for disposal of Waste Vegetable Oil (WVO) from the University Center kitchen fryers.
  • Contributes to the sustainability effort on campus.
  • Contributes to campus goal of being “off-the-grid” by 2012.
  • The summer of 2008 the campus powered a portion of its lawn mowers by using 100% biodiesel produced at UWRF.
  • In fall of 2008, the campus started using blends of biodiesel and petroleum to power the tractors at the lab farms.

The hope for the future is that we can extend usage of biodiesel to the snow sweepers in the winter.
