The purpose of this organization shall be to foster and support undergraduate research, scholarly and creative activity at UWRF through a variety of different activities and efforts. SURSCA invites faculty, academic staff and undergraduate students to participate in the Falcon Grants program and/or the SURSCA sponsored Fall Gala.
This program is designed to support and encourage students to participate in undergraduate research, scholarly and creative activities (RSCA). Specifically, it has been established to provide funding to support the conduct of RSCA projects in association with a faculty or staff mentor and/or to attend professional meetings with or without a presentation of the results from their projects.
The term RSCA is designed to be inclusive of all fields of study and their respective professional activities, therefore the Falcon Grant program is open to students from all disciplines and fields. This means that the program is open to traditional scientific research as well authors, artists and performers engaged in scholarly or creative activities outside the normal classroom environment.
Falcon Grants was designed and is administered by SURSCA (the Society for Undergraduate Research, Scholarly and Creative Activities), a student organization dedicated to enhancing the culture of RSCA on our campus. The program is designed with student peer-review of the competitive applications as a cornerstone. In addition, this peer-review process is overseen by the SURSCA administrative committee and then again by the Differential Tuition Committee to ensure that this important program is fair and constructive.
Falcon Grants has three grant categories: RSCA Project Grant, Individual RSCA Travel Grants and Group RSCA Travel Grants. For more information and applications, visit Falcon Grants.
Every fall, the Society of Undergraduate Research, Scholarly and Creative Activity presents the Fall Gala. SURSCA encourages faculty and students from all disciplines to present their research, and/or creative activity. All of the UWRF campus including their families are invited to attend and view the work.
The 2013 Fall Gala will be held on December 3rd in the University Center Ballroom from 5:30-7:30pm.
