HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR COMMITMENT TO STOP SMOKING?

USUALLY SMOKERS MOVE THROUGH SEVERAL STAGES IN THEIR OUTLOOK AND ATTITUDE BEFORE THEY STOP SMOKING. IF YOU UNDERSTAND THESE STAGES OF CHANGE, YOU CAN GET A BETTER IDEA OF WHAT WOULD BE MOST HELPFUL.

HAVE NO PLANS TO QUIT

YOU PROBABLY KNOW THAT SMOKING
IS HARMFUL BUT MAY BE TUNING OUT FACTS ON SMOKING AND HEALTH.

MAY HAVE TRIED TO QUIT BEFORE.

MAY BELIEVE QUITTING IS EASY (“JUST DON’T WANT TO”)

OR MAY THINK ADDICTION TO
NICOTINE IS TOO STRONG TO BREAK.

A LONGER TERM SMOKER MAY THINK THAT ITS TOO LATE TO QUIT, THAT THE DAMAGE IS DONE, AND IT ISNT WORTH IT.
