I started working at UW-RF in 1995 as a Student Supported Services advisor and Tutoring Coordinator.. Currently, I am s the SSS Specialist which means that I provides technical support for the program as well as academic coaching to SSS Scholars.

I am a Wisconsin native who grew up on a farm with 7 siblings in southwest Wisconsin. I was the first one in my family to attend college and had to pay for it all myself. . I have a bachelor’s degree from UW-Platteville with a major in Math Education and minor in Computer Science plus a masters degree from UW-Stout in Counseling. Some of my other work experience includes: teaching computer literacy for the Turkish Fellowship Project, being a Persian Gulf War Veteran, teaching math at an alternative school in Milwaukee, being a 4-H agent, and being a transfer counselor at Fond du lac Tribal and Community College in northern Minnesota.

I enjoy spending time with my family of three young kids, husband, two dogs, guinea pig, and fish. I enjoy baking cookies, scrapbooking, photography and flower gardening.

My strengths are: Input, Learner, Responibility, Connectiveness and Belief

Rose really enjoys working with students and having the opportunity to learn from them as she assists them to navigate through college. Her advice to students is: “Find out what your passion is. Pick a major so you can’t wait to get to class to learn more about the subject. Balance academic commitments with extra curricular activities that help you explore your interests and discover new ones. Have fun and learn as much as you can in college. This is a unique time in your life to explore and try new things.”

My name is Linda Jordan and I am one of the SSS Coaches. As a former first generation college student I can relate to some of the issues you deal with. My parents could not help me with any financial assistance because there were 7 younger siblings still living at home. I dined on a lot of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and macaroni and cheese for 4 years! The SSS program has awesome opportunities to help you become successful both academically and personally, and you will develop skills that will help you in your career and throughout life. We are here to support you in any way we can – just ask. We are committed to your success.

My strenghts are: Developer, Communicator, Empathy, Adaptability, Positivity,

Gina’s Fantastic Journey, thus far…

So where do I start, I grew up directly between Milwaukee and Chicago. I loved the balance of living in the “country” during the week and then heading to the “cities” on the weekends.

Far too soon it was time to decide where to go for college. My final choice brought me to Michigan, right along Lake Superior, where I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Photography at Northern Michigan University.

After a six month experience living in Spain, I returned to Michigan to participate in two years of service with the AmeriCorps program, where I worked with high school students exposing them to career, college and service-learning opportunities.
After AmeriCorps, it was time for me to move on, so I packed my bags and headed to the Twin Cities in 2007. I first started working with TRiO programs as an advisor for Educational Talent Search and the Upward Bound Summer Program Normandale Community College, in Bloomington, MN. I absolutely love the energy high school students have and want to help them develop their strengths. This opportunity fed my need to experience the third facet of TRiO, the Student Support Services program. When the opportunity to work with SSS at UW-River Falls presented itself I jumped on it. I am soo glad I did! I have the honor of coordinating the Falcon Fellows program and also being a SSS coach which satisfies two of my passions; promoting national community service and assisting college students find their path.

Outside of work you can find me taking photos of breakdancers, learning about different cultures, camping and hiking in the great outdoors, connecting with my community, cooking up a storm, traveling around the world or writing letters to friends in far off places.

My Strengths: Futuristic, Learner, Empathy, Adaptability, and Harmony Quote:

“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” -John Quincy Adams
