  News and Notes from the March 10, 2008 SPS meeting


This was our first try at an early evening "Meeting with a Meal" and
it went quite well - though we did have enough chips for four days!

Possible observing and talk this week?  Dr. Korenic will
give a talk titled "A Dieter's Dream...Weightess in space"

Bunny Rabbit Ride.  We have funds for repairs if new bits are needed.

Zone Meeting Planning.  Fylers have been mailed!  Preliminary website is
up.  We are going to charge $5.00 per person as a registration fee to help
make sure we have enough money.  We will also divide up chapters to
contact other chapters.  Shawntel said she would help decide the menu.

Spring Picnic.  Last week of classes, Tuesday May 6.  James said he would
reserve the shelter.

Bowl for Kids Sake.  Everybody wins something by coming out to the night
of bowling, so contact Bridget if interested!

Pre-engineering.  Pre-Med society will be going to the Medical Devices
Conference, so there is a possibility that a school van could be reserved.
If you are interested in helping work on a mentos and coke engine, talk
to Chris Feld.

Demos.  We played with the circuit puzzle and decided that it would be
much safer if we would do away with current knfe switches so nobody gets
zapped.  We also brought out the Wimshurst generator that needs a new
belt.  If you are interested in helping out with these demos, talk to Dr. B.
