Visit. The visit by Dr. Brian Beecken went very well, thank you for your
help.
Equipment to Egypt. Sending Deb Freitag money or equipment is in the air.
Zone meeting planning. We need to mail out our flyers! We need to get
this info out ASAP as well as UPDATING OUR WEB PAGE. If you are
interested in helping with the web page, contact Dr. B. We also need to
find some personal contacts, to call and inform about the meeting, as
well as picking a menu.
Meeting with a meal. Monday, March 10, about 5 pm. There is a clipboard
in the seminar room to sign up if you want to bring anything. Dr. B will
bring FRESH bread and butter, and then we won't have a meeting Thursday.
Relay for Life. Not sure if we are going to do this one. We would have
less than 1 month to do the fundraising, and it asks that each person
participating raise at least $100. So probably not this year.
Bowl for Kids Sake. They are still asking that each person raise $100,
but there is more time to fundraise. The team needs at least 4 people.
The bowling will be April 12th about 8pm if we get our time pick. Talk to
Bridget if interested.
Pre-Engineering. To partake in the bridge competition they are asking $5
for 500 Popsicle sticks. It will be held after spring break. And they
are getting an official web page!!!
Spring Banquet. April 25. Invitation letters have been sent out to all
those eligible for Sigma Pi Sigma. It is open to everyone, even if you're
not being inducted. Guest speaker Dr. Jan Yarrison-Rice from Miami
University of Ohio. We have reserved the Gausthaus in Stillwater. A sign
up for those wanting to attend will be coming soon. We haven't settled on
an exact menu yet. The place can hold 80 people comfortably, but up to
100.
Spring Picnic. Tuesday, May 6. We need to reserve the shelter.
Demo. Electrophorus. Will Matt Cady survive the licking of the surface
of the plate to charge it? He did! We charged up a serving plate with a
Styrofoam cup attached to it by rubbing a large piece of Styrofoam with
fur of some sort and then shocking ourselves on it to charge the metal
plate. We then could take it and shock other people with it. Definition
of the day: formication is the sensation of ants crawling on your skin
from nearby static charge.
