Welcome to the homepage for the UW-River Falls chapter of the Society of Physics Students.

This is a well-protected list (NO spam!) and is a great way get all the latest information on events and opportunities in SPS and the physics department. Order an SPS shirt or SPS sweatshirt! You can see the PDF Ad copy here to see what we ordered. The hooded sweatshirt only comes in black, and we will shrink the BIG blue letters the front to match the size of the red letters on the back. The shirt will have the "I attract everyone in the universe" bit on the back, with a small SPS logo on the upper left front. IF we get interest, we could order more. We only have a few left on hand.


MEETING TIME: We meet ALMOST every week. We meet EVERY THURSDAY at NOON in Room 113. We usually have cookies or some other treat. These weekly meetings are a good way to keep in touch with events in the Physics Department, as well as to help plan SPS activities. Most meetings last less than 30 minutes! In addition to those meetings, we will do other fun stuff at other times, so even if you can't make it to meetings, you can still be a part of SPS.

EVENTS FOR THIS YEAR

  • The Spring Picnic had great weather, about 60 to 70 people showed up for a good time. BIG THANK YOU to Joe F. for the deep-fried donuts and the deep-fried turkey!
  • The Fall Design Competition this year was flying solid-fuel model rockets. It was a lot of fun, but no movies to show. Last year we did the Egg Crash, a movie of which is now looping in the display case. If you are patient, you can watch it here.

    The Physics Help Room is staffed by upper level physics students. More information about the help room can be found on the help room page.
