Welcome to the homepage for the UW-River Falls chapter of the Society of Physics Students. To subscribe to the SPS email list, just go to https://lists.uwrf.edu/mailman/listinfo/sps and follow the simple directions. This is a well-protected list (NO spam!) and is a great way get all the latest information on events and opportunities in SPS and the physics department. Alumni, this is an easy way to stay connected with UWRF!Last year one of the biggest things we did was to host a Zone Meeting, inviting schools from across Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois to brave an April snowstorm and come to River Falls. It was great! For our report on the zone meeting, click here. Every year we design a new SPS shirt. The results of the voting is in, the top choice was "10 reasons to date a physicist", the second choice was "UWRF Physics Police". We WILL do BOTH designs, stay tuned for ordering information. There are clipboards in Room 113, the deadline for placing orders is November 25. Shirts SHOULD be ready to give as Christmas presents. Fall Competition: "Bungee Jumping". Okay, we won't have PEOPLE actually jumping, but it should be fun. Here are the guidelines. MEETING TIME: We meet ALMOST every week. This Fall we plan to meet EVERY TUESDAY at NOON in Room 113. We usually have cookies or some other treat. These weekly meetings are a good way to keep in touch with events in the Physics Department, as well as to help plan SPS activities. Most meetings last less than 30 minutes! In addition to those meetings, we will do other fun stuff at other times, so even if you can't make it to meetings, you can still be a part of SPS. Also, we will have one meeting per month in the evening, with a pot-luck meal. This Fall we'll do that on a TUESDAY at 5 pm, the first one will be Tuesday October 21.EVENTS FOR THIS YEAR The Physics Help Room is staffed by upper level physics students. More information about the help room can be found on the help room page. Minutes for the last SPS chapter meeting. The National SPS website has lots of cool stuff.
