Scheele Earns Honorable Mention to AVCA All-America Team

Nov. 19, 2008

Outside hitter Kelsey Scheele (Jr., Norwood, Minn. Mayer Lutheran HS) has earned honorable mention to the 2008 American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America team.

"This is a great honor for Kelsey," said Falcon Coach Patti Ford. "She has great instincts for the game and thrives in high level competition situations. Kelsey has established herself as one of the top players within the WIAC and region by playing fundamentally sound volleyball. She is a talented hitter with a great array of shots that frustrates many defenses and her solid passing, defensive and serving skills greatly enhances our point scoring opportunities."

Earlier this year Scheele was named to the AVCA All-Midwest Region and All-WIAC teams.

She led the Falcons in several statistical categories this year. She led in kills (456), services aces (44) and digs (528). She had four solo and 45 block assists.

Scheele hit the career 1,000 kill milestone in a match against St. Ambrose on Oct. 31. She now has 1,064 career kills in her three-year career. She finished with 13 kills against St. Ambrose. She was named to five All-Tournament teams throughout the season.

In 2007, she was named to the All-WIAC team. She also received the Most Valuable Player Award and Offensive Player of the Year Award for the 2007 season.

In 2007, she had 445 kills. And, as a freshman in 2006, Scheele had 163 kills.
