Hansberry Named to CoSIDA ESPN The Magazine First Men's District V At-Large Team

Falcon hockey player Derek Hansberry (Sr., Arvada, Col.) has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) ESPN The Magazine first men's District V At-Large team.
Hansberry earned the same District honor after the 2007 season and later was named to the national third At-Large team. Hansberry is now eligible for national honors again in 2009.
Hansberry, who has a 3.88 grade point average and is majoring in business finance. He was named the WIAC and NCHA Scholar-Athlete in 2009.Hansberry is a three-time member of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Scholastic Honor Roll and two-time honoree on the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) All-Academic squad. In addition, he has been recognized on UW-River Falls' Dean's List numerous semesters. Hansberry is a two-time USCHO.com All-America West Second Team honoree, claiming recognition in 2007 and 2008. He was named to the American Hockey Coaches Association/RBK All-America West Second Team in 2007 and USCHO.com West All-Rookie Team in 2006. Hansberry is a four-time All-NCHA first team pick and three-time All-WIAC first team selection. He was named his team's Most Valuable Player in 2006. Hansberry, 6-0, 197 pounds, led the Falcons in goals (16) and points (25) in 2009. He was named the team's Most Valuable Player, the John Oostendorp Memorial award and the Jack Norqual, Sr., Memorial Coaches Achievement awards winner in 2009. He also led the team with seven power-play goals and two short-handed goals. He had two game-winners. Hansberry finished his career fourth in goals (74) and 12th in points (131). He scored 37 power-play goals, five short-handed goals and 12 game winners in 110 games. Hansberry was also named to the WIAC's All-Sportsmanship Team. That team is for individuals who displayed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season. A team captain this season, Hansberry is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma and Sigma Beta Delta Honor Societies.
The CoSIDA District V team is comprised of all NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA student-athletes from Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Minnesota and is voted on by CoSIDA members.
The Academic All-America program honors male and female student-athletes annually who have succeeded at the highest level on the playing field and in the classroom. Individuals are selected through voting by CoSIDA, a 2,000 member organization consisting of sports public relations professionals for colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.
To be eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-American team, a student-athletes must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA covering all NCAA championship sports.

Forward Derek Hansberry (Sr., Arvada, Col.) has been named the WIAC Max Sparger hockey Scholar-Athlete.
Earlier Hansberry was named to the first All-WIAC and All-NCHA teams.
Hansberry, 6-0, 197 pounds, led the Falcons in goals (16) and points (25). He also led the team with seven power-play goals and two short-handed goals. He had two game-winners. He was named to the 2006 and 2007 first All-WIAC teams and earned honorable mention in 2008. Hansberry finished his career fourth in goals (74) and 12th in points (131). He scored 37 power-play goals, five short-handed goals and 12 game winners in 110 games. Hansberry was also named to the WIAC's All-Sportsmanship Team. That team is for individuals who displayed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season. The team included one member from each school as selected by that school.
He is the eighth Falcon hockey player to earn the WIAC Scholar-Athlete award.

Five Earn All-WIAC Honors

Five Falcons have been named to the 2009 All-WIAC hockey team.
Forward Derek Hansberry (Sr., Arvada, Col.) and defenseman Josh Meyers (Sr., International Falls, Minn.) were both named to the first team. Meyers, 6-0, 192 pounds, scored one goal and six points for the Falcons this year. He finished his career with three goals and 17 points. He scored one power-play goal. He played in 73 career games. Meyers was named to the WIAC All-Sportsmanship team after the 2008 season.
Beaudoin, 6-1, 214 pounds, had a solid first season for the Falcons. He finished tied for second in scoring with four goals and 17 points. He scored three power-play goals and had two game-winners.
Czuba, 6-0, 189 pounds, played in just 19 games for the Falcons this year, but still tied for second on the team witih 17 points. He scored 12 goals and had one power-play goal and two game-winners. In two years and 46 career games he has scored 28 goals adn 42 points. He has scored five power-play goals and three game-winners.
Ritter, 6-4, 205 pounds, played 22 of the team's 27 games in goal. He had a 9-9-1 record with a 2.60 goals against average and a .923 saves percentage. Ritter had one shutout. He was twice named the WIAC Player of the Week. In 35 career games he has a 17-14-1 record with a 2.67 goals against average and a .921 saves percentage. He has three shutouts.
The Falcons finished the season with a 10-15-2 overall record.

Hansberry, 6-0, 197 pounds, was named to the first team for the fourth straight year. He leads the Falcons in scoring with 16 goals and 25 points. He has scored seven power-play goals , two sort-handed goals and two game-winners. He has played in all 25 games.
He was named the NCHA Player of the Week on Jan. 13 after helping the Falcons to two wins in the previous week.
Hansberry has played in 108 career games and has scored 74 goals and 131 points.
The Falcons, 10-13-2 overall, start the NCHA playoffs this weekend at St. Scholastica with games Friday and Saturday nights starting at 7:05.

Falcons Come Up Short in Hockey Finale

The Falcon men’s hockey team was held scoreless in a loss to No. 4 ranked St. Scholastica on Saturday night. The 2-0 game in the NCHA quarterfinals has ended the Falcons playoff run this season.
The game was hosted by St. Scholastica at Mars Lakeview Arena in Duluth, MN in front of a crowd of 591.
Saint Neil Sauter scored the first game of the night at 04:25 in the first period. The goal was Sauter’s first of the season. He was assisted by Jordan Baird and Joey Martini. Falcon goaltender Stephen Ritter still played an excellent game after returning from a lower body injury he sustained against Lake Forest College. Ritter made six saves in the period.
The second period remained scoreless after a lights out performance by both goaltenders. Steve Bounds played in net for the Saints and made a total of 13 saves in the period. Ritter made 14 saves after the period of back and forth style hockey.
Jordan Chong scored the only goal of the third period and the last goal of the Falcons season at 02:24. The goal was Chong’s 13th of the season, and he was assisted by Aaron Spotts and Trevor Geiger.
The game contained a high number penalties by both teams. However the clutch goaltending performance prevented each team from capitalizing on the abundance of power plays.
Ritter made a total of 33 saves after playing in net for 58:03. Bounds made 38 saves after playing for the entire game.
The Falcons have ended the season with a record of 10-15-2. The great deal of young talent has kept the Falcons and their fans optimistic for the upcoming season of UWRF hockey at Hunt Arena.

Falcons Lose NCHA Playoff Game at St. Scholastica, 2-0
Feb. 20, 2009
St. Scholastica scored goals in the second and third periods to earn a 2-0 win over the Falcon men's hockey team in the first game of the NCHA playoffs in Duluth, Minn., on Friday night.
Neither team could score in the opening period. The Saints outshot the Falcons, 16-10, in the first period. Both teams took two minor penalties and were 0-2 on the power play.
After a scoreless opening 20 minutes, the Saints grabbed a 1-0 lead at 2:51 of the second period when Aaron Spotts scored his seventh goal of the season. Once again the Saints outshot the Falcons, this time by a 14-8 margin. CSS took the only penalty in the period, but the Falcons were not able to take advantage of the power play opportunity.
CSS scored an insurance goal at 14:53 of the final period. Joe Martini scored his 15th goal of the season to give the Saints the 2-0 lead. The goal came less than a minute after the Falcons were on a five-on-four power play. Falcon goalie Stephen Ritter was pulled with 1:45 to play, but was put back in the goal when the Falcons took a penalty with 1:14 to go. The Saints held a 9-7 advantage in shots.
Falcon goalie Stephen Ritter made 37 saves while CSS's goalie, Steve Bounds, stopped all 25 shots he faced. This was the third time this year the Falcons failed to score a goal in a game. John Bullis led the Falcons with four shots on goal.
CSS outshot the Falcons, 39-25, in the game. UWRF was called for six minor penalties and CSS for five. Neither team scored a power-play goal.
The two teams will play again on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m., at the Mars Lakeview Arena. If St. Scholastica (19-5-2) wins the game, or if the game ends in a tie, the Saints will win the best two-out-of-three game series. If the Falcons (10-14-2) win, the series will be decided by a 15 minute mini game on Saturday night.

Stout Drops River Falls 6-5 in Last Regular Season Game

The UW- Stout Bluedevils defeated the Falcon men’s hockey team by a score of 6-5 after an intense NCHA match up on Friday night.
Bluedevil David Larson scored the first goal of the game at 3:31 in the first period. The Falcons did not take long to respond as Alex Lundbohm tied the score with his second goal of the season at 6:48. Lundbohm was unassited in the goal. The Falcons took a one goal lead when Nolan Craner scored his fifth goal of the season at 9:35 in the period, with assists coming from Jordan McIntyre and John Bullis. UWRF took the lead by two when Dustin Norman scored his third goal of the season at 17:00. Assisting Norman was Sean Roadhouse. The lead was cut by one when Andy Steinberg scored at 19:31 on a power play following a hooking penalty on McIntyre.
The Falcons scored the only goal in the second period. Roadhouse scored his third goal of the season at 16:40. Assisting Roadhouse in the period was Derek Hansberry. The period was capitalized by heated, back and forth style hockey.
The Bluedevils would go on to score four consecutive goals on Freshman goaltender Bo Storozuk in the third period. The first goal was by Scott Motz at 4:06. The second goal came on an unassisted power play from Joel Gaulrapp at 5:49, his first of two goals in the period. The power play was the result of a tripping penalty on Craner. The third goal of the period
was scored by Danny Ryan Jr. at 9:20. Gaulrapp scored his second goal of the period at 17:33, shorthanded, following a cross checking penalty on Jeff Wheeler.
Storozuk was charged with the loss after playing all 60:00 in net. Storozuk allowed the six goals while making 24 impressive saves throughout the game while filling in for injured goaltender Stephen Ritter. Matt Koenig played for the entire 60:00 for UW- Stout, making 28 saves and allowing five goals.
The Falcon’s next game is an NCHA quarterfinal playoff game that is still to be determined.

Falcons and Foresters tie 0-0 in NCHA Matchup on Saturday Night

The Falcon men’s hockey team and the Lake Forest Foresters both remained scoreless in a tie on Saturday night Chicago.
Sophomore Stephen Ritter started in net for the Falcons, but only played for 8:56 in the game before being replaced by freshman Bo Storozuk. Ritter made two saves in the period. Storozuk made five saves in the period. Storozuk played for a total of 56:04 in the game. Brandon Kohuch played in net for Lake Forest for the full 60 minutes of the game, along with the five minute overtime period. Kohuch made 15 saves in the first period, as the Falcon offense maintained primary control over the puck. The period only contained one penalty, a hooking penalty on Forester Chris Wilson at 15:17.
Storozuk continued his impressive performance in goal by shutting out the Foresters in the second period and making 13 saves. The Falcon offense proved to be relentless with 16 shots in the period on Kohuch. The period contained two penalties, both from Lake Forest. The first of the two penalties was for high sticking by Joel Gard at 8:18. The second penalty was for inteference by Chris Jackson at 13:39, however the Falcons were unable to capitalize on the power play opportunities.
The Falcons commited their first penalty of the game at 4:17 in the third period after a holding call on Tyler Pederson. Sean Pettinger was then called for an inteference penalty at 13:02, however Storozuk’s clutch performance prevented the Foresters from scoring on the power plays. The final penalty of the game was on Anthony Ventura of Lake Forest for charging at 15:24. Storozuk made 11 saves in the period, while Kuhuch made
17.
Storozuk made seven big saves in the five minute overtime period, and had a total of 36 saves in the game. Kohuch had five saves in overtime, and made 53 saves in the game.
The game was the Falcon’s second tie of the year. The first tie was against the Sabres of Marian University by a score of 4-4 during the first game of the season. This is the second time in Falcon history that UWRF has played to a 0-0 overtime tie. On Nov. 9, 2002, UWRF and UW-Superior played to a scoreless tie in Superior.
The Falcons record is now 10-12-2 overall and 4-8-1 in the NCHA as they prepare to take on the Blue Devils of UW-Stout on Friday in the last game of the regular season. The game is hosted by Stout, and the opening face off is at 7:30 p.m.

#8 Green Knights Drop Falcons in NCHA Matchup on Friday Night

The St. Norbert Green Knights defeated the Falcon men’s hockey team by a score of 4-1 in an NCHA matchup on Friday night in Green Bay, WI.
Nick Tabisz of St. Norbert scored the first goal of the night at 13:36 in the first period. The goal was Tabisz sixth of the season, and he was assisted by Jason Nopper and Matt Boyd. The goal was also the only score of the period on Falcon goaltender Stephen Ritter who made 16 saves in the first 20 minutes of play.
Derek Hansberry scored the only Falcon goal of the game at 01:19 in the second period on a power play. The Green Knights received a penalty for having too many men on the ice late in the first period, and the penalty carried over into the second. The goal was Hansberry’s 16th of the season. Hansberry was assisted by Grant Everett and Dustin Norman. Green Knight Sam Tikka responded by scoring an unassisted goal at 05:21 in the period. Tabisz scored his second goal of the game at 09:31 to give the Green Knights a two goal lead entering the third period.
Steven Pratt scored the only goal of the third period at 17:29 on a power play following a cross checking penalty on Andrew Harrison. The goal gave the Green Knights a 4-1 lead as the game came to a finish. Assisting Pratt on his second goal of the season was Tabisz and Boyd.
Ritter was charged with the loss after playing in net for 60:00 and making 32 saves. Ritter’s record on the season is now 9-8-1. Blake Bashor played in net for the Green Knights for 60:00 and made 13 saves while allowing one goal.
The Falcons are heading to Lake Forest College for an NCHA matchup this Saturday. The opening faceoff will be at 7:30 p.m.

| Ritter Named NCHA Player of the Week

Goalie Stephen Ritter (So., Tenafly, N.J.) helped lead the Falcons to two wins against ranked opponents last weekend and has been named the NCHA and WIAC Player of the Week.
The Falcons beat No. 12 ranked UW-Stevens Point, 4-3, on Friday and came back with a win over No. 14 ranked UW-Eau Claire, 2-1, on Saturday in games at Hunt Arena.
In Friday’s win, Ritter made 29 saves and allowed one power-play goal. In Saturday’s win he stopped 41 of 42 shots to get the win. Ritter, 6-4, 205 pounds, made 16-first period and 18-second period saves in the game. UWEC scored its only goal in the third period while on the power play. Ritter is now 9-6-1 with a 2.61 goals against average and a .922 save percentage this year. He has had two shutouts.
The Falcons play two road NCHA games this weekend. Friday they are at St. Norbert at 7 p.m., and they play at Lake Forest on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. |

Andrew Harrison Scores Clutch Goal to Defeat #14 Blugolds of Eau Claire

The Falcon men's hockey team has defeated the #14 ranked UW- Eau Claire Blugolds by a score of 2-1 after a heated, penalty ridden match up on Saturday night.
Falcon goaltender Stephen Ritter shut out the Blugolds in the first period of action packed hockey. Ritter made 16 saves in the period. The first 20 minutes were full of aggression as there were five unsportsmanlike conduct penalties called.
Derek Hansberry scored the first goal of the game shorthanded at 15:39 in the second period following a slashing penalty on John Halstenson. Hansbery was unassisted, and this was the only goal of the period. The goal was Hansberry’s 15th of the season and it dictated the remainder of the game. Ritter also provided an incredible defensive performance, shutting out the Blugolds in the period after 18 shots on goal.
Joe Bluhm of Eau Claire responded with the first Blugold goal of the game at 03:32 on a power play following a slashing penalty on Dustin Norman. Andrew Harrison scored the game winning goal for the Falcons at 18:56 in the period during six on six play. Assisting Harrison on his fourth goal of the season was Ben Beaudoin.
Josh Kamrass, Tyler Pederson and Halstenson received major penalties for fighting at the end of the third period. Blugolds Nicholas Kuquali, Andrew Johnson and Brant Marple also received fighting penalties. The six players were disqualified.
Ritter’s record is now 9-7-1 on the season after his clutch performance against the Blugolds. Ritter made 41 saves throughout the game, and allowed only one goal while playing in net for 60:00. Blugold goaltender Tyler Brigl was charged with the loss after playing in net for 59:35. Brigl made 20 saves in the game and allowed two goals.
The Falcons will face off against last year’s Division III national
champions, the Green Knights of St. Norbert College on Friday night at 7:05 p.m. The game is hosted by St. Norbert.

Ruff and Beaudoin Both Score Two Goals in Win Versus Stevens Point

The Falcon men’s hockey team has extended its record to 9-11-1 after a 4-3 win over No. 12 ranked UW-Stevens Point at Hunt Arena on Friday night.
Pointer Luke Nesper scored the only goal of the first period at 17:46. Assisting Nesper on his eighth goal of the season was Matt Stendahl and Travis Erstad. The period was full of action packed, back and forth play. Sophomore goaltender Stephen Ritter started in net for the Falcons and made 12 saves in the period.
Jamie Ruff scored the first Falcon goal of the game at 4:59 in the second period on Pointer goaltender Thomas Speer. Assisting Ruff was Nolan Craner and John Bullis. The goal was Ruff’s first of two in the game. Nesper responded for the Pointers with his second goal of the night at 5:52. Nesper was assisted by Erstad and Stendahl. Ben Beaudoin tied up the score at 10:33 with his fourth goal of the season. Assisting Beaudoin was Grant Everett. The goal was Beaudoin’s first of two in the period. Pointer Russell Law gave Stevens Point a one goal lead with a power play goal at 13:08, following a roughing penalty on Bullis. The Falcons struck back quickly at 14:48 to tie the score, as Ruff scored his second goal of the game. Assisting Ruff was Andrew Harrison. Beaudoin scored the game winning goal at 15:50 on a power play with an assist from Derek Hansberry.
The third period had both teams create some good scoring chances, but both goalies made some outstanding saves during the 20 minutes.
Ritter made 29 saves throughout the game and allowed three goals while playing in net for 59:58. Ritter's record for the season is 8-6-1. Speer made 31 saves for the Pointers while playing in net for 59:00.
The Falcons will play the No. 14 ranked UW-Eau Claire Blugolds in an NCHA matchup on Saturday night at Hunt Arena. The opening faceoff is at 7:05 p.m.

Falcons Drop 3-2 Decision at St. Scholastica

The Falcon men's hockey team came up one goal short in its bid to upset St. Scholastica, the No. 2 ranked team in the country.
One night after the Falcons lost 5-3 at No. 3-ranked Superior, the Falcons faced No. 2-ranked CSS and gave them all they could handle before falling 3-2.
The score was tied 1-1 at the end of the first period and 2-2 at the end of the second.
Less than one minute after CSS had taken the lead in the first period, John Bullis scored his second goal of the season to tie the game at 7:24, assisted by Jordan McIntyre.
In the second period it took RF less than two minutes to respond to a CSS goal. Derek Hansberry scored his 14th goal of the season, short handed, at 19:13. He was assisted by Ben Beaudoin and Josh Meyers, to take the Falcons into the second intermission with the score knotted up once again. It was the team's first short-handed goal of the year.
CSS lit the lamp at 11:13 in the third period and RF could not answer the third time. The Falcons pulled goalie Stephen Riutter and added an attacker at 18:33 but could not find the net.
Ritter made 42 saves and his record is now 7-7-1.
RF finished the game with three penalties for six minutes, all coming in the second period. Both teams were 0-3 in the power play and CSS outshot the Falcons 45-31.
This was the fourth straight game with a goal for Hansberry.
The Falcons, now 8-11-1 overall and 2-7 in the NCHA, will host Stevens Point at Hunt Arena on Friday. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m.

Falcons Lose NCHA Game at UWS

UW-Superior scored twice in the first and third periods to earn a 5-3 win over the Falcon men's hockey team on Friday night in Superior.
UWS led 2-1 after one period and 3-2 after two.
UWS grabbed a 2-0 lead with goals at 2:32 and 7:53 of the first period. The Falcons got back in the game when Grant Everett scored his third goal of the year at 15:37. Derek Hansberry picked up the lone assist.
The Falcons got to within 2-1 at 5:07 of the second period when Hansberry scored his 13th goal of the year with UWRF on the power play. He was assisted by Everett and Jordan McIntyre. UWS went ahead, 3-1, at 11:53.
Superior then took a 4-1 lead with a goal at 1:14 of the final stanza. But Dustin Norman scored his second goal of the year to get the Falcons to within 4-2. He was assisted by Jamie Ruff. UWS closed out the scoring with a goal at 10:10.
UWS, ranked No. 3 in the nation, out shot the Falcons, 32-26 for the game. The Falcons were 1-3 on the power play and Superior was 0-5. The Falcons killed off a full 5-3 UWS power-play in the third period. But just after the penalties expired, UWS scored a goal at the 10:10 mark.
Stephen Ritter started in goal and made three saves before being pulled in favor of Bo Storozuk. Storozuk made seven saves in the rest of the first period and stopped 28 for the game.
The Falcons, now 8-10-1 overall and 2-6 in the NCHA, will play at No. 2 ranked St. Scholastica on Saturday. The puck drops at 7 p.m.

Falcons Lose Late in OT at St. Mary's

St. Mary's scored with just one second to play in overtime to beat the Falcon men's hockey team, 2-1, Saturday night in Winona, Minn.
The Falcons led, 1-0, after the first period and that was the score after two. SMU tied the game with a late third-period goal.
Derek Hansberry gave the Falcons a 1-0 lead with his 12 th goal of the season at 3:21 of the first period. He was assisted by line mates Grant Everett and Ben Beaudoin.
SMU, now 2-11-1 overall, tied the game with just 1:55 to play in the third period. Mike Glaesmer scored the even-strength goal.
Then SMU's Eric Dahl scored the game-winner with just one second to play in the extra session.
Both teams put plenty of pucks on goal. The Falcons held a 41-40 advantage in shots. UWRF outshot the Cardinals in every period but the third. The Falcons had a 19-6 advantag ein the first period, 14-13 in the second and 4-3 in the extra session. SMU had a 18-4 advantage in the third period. The Falcons were called for six minor penalties and SMU had five.
Stephen Ritter was in goal for the Falcons and finished with 38 saves. He is now 7-5-1 this year. Scott Pederson got the win for the Cardinals. He made 40 saves.
The Falcons, now 8-9-1 overall and 2-5 in the NCHA, will play two NCHA games on the road next weekend. On Friday the Falcons are at UW-Superior and on Saturday they play at St. Scholastica. Game time both nights is 7.

Falcons Fall to Stout, 3-2

Stout scored the only goal of the third period to earn a 3-2 win over the Falcon men’s hockey team on Friday night at Hunt Arena.
The loss snapped a five game Falcon winning streak. The Falcons led 1-0 after the first period and the score was tied, 2-2, after two.
The Falcons grabbed a 1-0 lead at 17:41 of the first period off a pretty passing play. Ben Beaudoin hit Grant Everett with a pass in the Stout zone and Everett fed a breaking Derek Hansberry who was open in front of the Blue Devils net. Hansberry finished the play and it was his 11th goal of the season. Both teams had two power plays in the opening 20 minutes but could not cash in with the extra player. The Falcons outshot Stout, 12-9 in the opening 20 minutes.
Stout used special teams to score in the second period. They started with a short-handed goal at 12:01. But the Falcons responded to take a 2-1 lead at 13:54. John Bullis picked off an errant Stout pass in the offensive zone and sent Andrew Harrison in on the Stout goalie. Harrison scored his third goal of the year to put the Falcons ahead. Later the Falcons took a minor penalty and Stout scored a power-play goal at 15:18 to tie the score again. The Falcons again outshot Stout, 12-7, in the period. UWRF was 0-1 on the power play and Stout was 1-2.
Stout got what proved to be the game winner at 13:10. The Falcons pulled goalie Stephen Ritter with 1:06 to play and put pressure on the Stout goal, but were not able to get the equalizer. The Falcons again had the advantage in shots, 9-8. There were no penalties called in the final stanza.
UWRF finished 0-3 on the power play and Stout, now 12-5 overall and 5-2 in the NCHA, was 1-4. UWRF was called for five minor penalties and Stout for four.
Ritter stopped 21 shots and is now 7-4-1. Matt Koenig stopped 31 shots and is now 10-4.
The Falcons, now 8-8-1 overall and 2-5 in the NCHA, will play a non-conference game at St. Mary’s on Saturday with action starting at 7 p.m.

Forward Derek Hansberry (Sr., Arvada, Col.) helped the Falcons to their seventh win in their last eight games with two big games last week and has been named the NCHA Player of the Week.
In the team's 3-0 win at Concordia-Moorhead on Wednesday, Hansberry scored twice. He scored what proved to be the game-winning goal at 6:21 of the first period. He scored the team's second goal of the game at 7:09 of the third period. In the team's 2-1 overtime win over St. John's on Friday at Hunt Arena, he picked up an assist on the overtime game-winning goal.
This year he is second on the team with 10 goals and 15 points. He has scored five power-play goals and two game-winners.
The Falcons, 8-7-1 overall and 2-4 in the NCHA, play twice this weekend. On Friday they host No. 7 ranked UW-Stout at 7:05 p.m., at Hunt Arena in a NCHA game. On Saturday they play a non-conference game at St. Mary's at 7 p.m. |

Beaudoin Scores in OT to Help Falcons to Win

Beau Beaudoin scored his third goal of the season in overtime to help the Falcon men's hockey team to a 2-1 win over St. John's Friday night at Hunt Arena.
Beaudoin scored at 3:23 of the extra session to give the Falcons their seventh win in their last eight games.
SJU was called for a hooking penalty at 2:15 of the overtime to give the Falcons the man advantage and Beaudoin took advantage of the opportunity to score his first game-winning goal of the year.
Neither team could score in the first two periods. SJU took a 1-0 lead at 53 seconds of the third period. Brian Baker scored a power-play goal after the Falcons were called for a tripping penalty.
The lead didn't last long. UWRF's Tyler Czuba scored at 2:23 to tie the game, 1-1. Czuba scored his team-leading 12th goal of the year with assists to Dustin Norman and Nolan Craner. Both teams had some great chances in an exciting third period. But UWRF goalie Stephen Ritter and SJU goalie Vince Wheeler stopped everything that was thrown at them.
The Falcons had a 46-40 advantage in shots on goal. UWRF had 12 shots in the first, 13 in the second, 16 in the third and seven in the overtime period. UWRF outshot the Johnnies, 7-0, in the extra session. SJU, now 3-10-1 overall, was 1-5 on the power play and the Falcons were 1-4. The Falcons were called for six minor penalties and SJU was called for seven.
Ritter, who is now 7-3-1, stopped 39 shots and Wheeler made 44 saves.
The Falcons, now 8-7-1 overall, will return to NCHA play on Friday, Jan. 16 when they host UW-Stout at 7:05 p.m., at Hunt Arena.

Everett Scores Once, Gets Two Assists in Win

Grant Everett had a three-point game and goalie Bo Storozuk picked up his first shutout of the season to help lead the Falcon men's hockey team to a 3-0 win at Concordia-Moorhead on Wednesday night.
Falcon Derek Hansberry scored twice to help the Falcons to the win. The victory is the team's sixth in its last seven games.
The Falcons had a 1-0 lead after one period and that was the score after two periods also. Hansberry scored his ninth goal of the season at 6:21 of the first period to give the Falcons the lead for good. Ben Beaudoin and Everett picked up the assists.
After the scoreless second period, the Falcons scored twice in the third. Hansberry scored his second goal of the game, and 10th of the season, at 7:09. On this goal Everett picked up the first assist and Beaudoin the second. Then, with the Cobber goalie pulled, Everett ended the suspense with an unassisted empty-net goal at 18:52.
Storozuk improved his record to 1-3 making 22 saves in the win. The Falcons had 30 shots on goal and Cobber goalie, Mike Persson, made 27 saves. UWRF had seven shots in the first period, 13 in the second and seven more in the third. CM had eight shots in each of the first two periods and six in the third.
UWRF was called for five minor penalties and the Cobbers for two. CM, now 1-11-2 overall, was 0-3 on the power-play and the Falcons did not have a power-play chance in the game.
The Falcons, now 7-7-1 overall, will next host St. John's on Friday at Hunt Arena with the puck dropping at 7:05 p.m.

Falcons Top St. Thomas, 4-2

The Falcon men’s hockey team beat St. Thomas, 4-2, and earned its fifth win in its last six games Saturday night at Hunt Arena.
After a scoreless firsty period the Falcons led, 2-0, after two.
Ben Beaudoin opened the scoring with his second goal of the year at 15:25. He was assisted on the power-play goal by Deren Hansberry abd Grant Everett. The Falcons went ahead, 2-0, at 19:12 when Jordan McIntyre scored his third goal of the year. He was assisted by John Halstenson and Tyler Czuba.
The Falcons went ahead, 3-0, at 1:42 of the third period. Tyler Pederson scored what proved to be the game-winning goal witih assists to Everett and Sean Pettinger. It was Pederson's first collegiate goal.
St. Thomas made it a 3-1 game at 9:52 when John Jacques scored a power-play goal. But the Falcons went ahead, 4-1, at 10:16 when Sean Roadhouse scored his second of the year with assists to Dustin Norman and Josh Meyers. UST ended the scoring when Rob Johnson scored a power-play goal at 15:58.
UWRF goalie Stephen Ritter made 25 saves to improve to 6-3-1. UST's Tyler Chestnut made 23 saves and took the loss.
The Falcons, now 6-7-1 overall, will next play at Con.-Moorhead on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

| Ritter Named WIAC Player of the Week

Goalie Stephen Ritter (So., Tenafly, N.J.) helped lead the Falcons to two wins last week and has been named the WIAC hockey Player of the Week according to league Sports Information Director, Matt Stanek.
Ritter and the Falcons allowed only one goal in the two games. In the team’s 4-1 win over Bethel, Ritter, 6-4, 205 pounds, stopped 33 of the 34 shots he faced. He came back on Saturday and picked up his first shutout of the year, 3-0, with a 39-save performance against Augsburg at Hunt Arena. In the two games he faced 73 shots and finished with a .986 saves percentage. This year Ritter has a 5-3-1 record with a 2.82 goals against average and a .911 saves percentage.

Falcons Shut Out Augsburg

The Falcon men’s hockey team defeated the Augsburg College Auggies by a score of 3-0 at Hunt Arena on Saturday night.
Both teams went scoreless in the first period as Augsburg was unable to capitalize on several power play opportunities. Matt Szypura committed the first penalty of the game, tripping, at 00:29. The Auggies had another opportunity after a hooking penalty on Nolan Craner at 12:48. Falcons Grant Everett and Josh Kamrass received roughing penalties, along with Auggies Nick Guran and Brandon Bukowski at 19:27 to end the period on a physical note.
Tyler Czuba scored the first goal of the game, his 11th of the season, at 04:38 in the second period. Assisting Czuba was Jordan McIntyre and Craner. Jamie Ruff extended the Falcon lead by two after a hooking penalty on Auggie Nikki Holt. Ruff scored the power play goal at 11:05. The goal was his first of two in the game. Assisting Ruff was Sean Roadhouse and Derek Hansberry.
Ruff went unasissted as he scored his second goal of the night on an open net after a physical, penalty ridden third period. There was a total of ten penalties in the third period, and a total of 23 penalties throughout the game.
Falcon goaltender Stephen Ritter received the win after playing in net for all 60 minutes. Ritter made 39 saves and allowed zero goals. Andrew Kent played in net for 59:29 for the Auggies, allowing two goals and making 41 saves.
The Falcons will face off against St. Thomas University at Hunt Arena at 7:05 p.m. on Jan. 3.

Falcons Top Bethel 4-1

The Falcon men’s hockey team defeated the Bethel University Royals by a score of 4-1 at Hunt Arena on Wednesday night.
Grant Everett scored the first goal of the game, the first of his
collegiate career, at 03:13 in the first period. Assisting Everett was Josh Meyers. The goal was also the only one of the period.
Kent Bostrom responded for Bethel, scoring the only goal of the second period, at 00:21. Assisting Bostrom was Chris Fiala. The Falcons were able to kill all three of their penalties during the period: a hooking penalty on Matt Syzpura at 03:16, a holding penalty on Jon Halstenson at 13:27 and an interference penalty on Bill Pinel at 18:01. However, the Falcons were unable to capitalize on the one Bethel penalty of the period, a holding
penalty on Blake Jenkins at 10:10.
The Falcons scored on three out of nine shots on goal in the third period. Tyler Czuba scored his first goal of two goals in the period at 06:08. Assisting Czuba was Ben Beaudoin and Nolan Craner. Scoring the second goal was Derek Hansberry at 14:36. Assisting Hansberry was Tyler Pederson, and the goal was Hansberry’s ninth of the season. Czuba scored the final goal of
the game at 18:51, unassisted. The goal was Czuba’s tenth of the season.
Stephen Ritter played in net for all 60 minutes for the Falcons. Ritter made 33 saves while allowing one goal. Aaron Damjanovich played all 60 minutes for the Royals, making 29 saves and allowing four goals.

St. Norbert Defeats UWRF by One

The Green Knights of St. Norbert College defeated the Falcon men's hockey team by one goal in an NCHA matchup at Hunt Arena on Saturday night. The final score was 4-3.
Steven Sleep scored the only goal of the first period at 11:55 on a power play, in response to a hooking penalty on Falcon Sean Pettinger. The UWRF offense had ten shots in the period, but were unable to get past St. Norbert goaltender B.J. O'Brien. The Green Knights had 13 shots in the period on Falcon goaltender Stephen Ritter.
The Falcons tied the score after a power play goal by Derek Hansberry at 06:08 in the second period. UWRF was granted the power play after an interference penalty on Shane Wheeler. Assisting Hansberry in his seventh goal of the season as Sean Roadhouse and Grant Everett. The Falcons took the lead after a goal by Tyler Czuba at 19:45. Assisting Czuba was Nolan Craner, and the goal was Czuba's eighth of the season.
The score was tied up again as Sam Tikka scored at 04:43 in the third period. The Green Knights took the lead after a roughing penalty on John Bullis, as Tyler Allen went on to score a power play goal at 06:25. The score was tied up for the third time in the game when freshman Ben Beaudoin scored the first goal in his collegiate career at 07:56. Assisting Beaudoin was Hansberry. Scott Pulak placed the puck in the net at 15:18 to give the Green Knights a one goal lead to end the game.
Ritter played in net for 58:44 for the Falcons, making 33 saves while allowing four goals. O'Brien played in net for all 60 minutes for the Green Knights, making 30 saves and allowing 3 goals.

Falcons Score 6 in Win Over Lake Forest

The Falcon men’s hockey team has extended their record to 3-6-1 after scoring six goals in an NCHA victory over Lake Forest College at Hunt Arena on Friday night.
The Falcons capitalized on a Forester penalty early in the game as Bill Pinel scored the first goal of the night, unassisted, on a power play at 02:33 in the first period. The goal was Pinel’s second of the season, and the only goal of the period.
Jamie Ruff extended the Falcon lead by two by scoring his third goal of the season at 10:00 in the second period. Assisting Ruff was Josh Meyers and Matt Syzpura. After a hooking penalty on Sean Pettinger, the Foresters responded with a power play goal by Adam Love at 10:30. An interference penalty on Joe Papineau of Lake Forest College led to Derek Hansberry extending the Falcon lead by scoring a power play goal at 13:10 in the period. Assisting Hansberry was Sean Roadhouse and Dustin Norman. The Falcons were up by three goals at the end of the period, as Nolan Craner scored his third goal of the season at 13:39. Assisting Craner was Jordan McIntyre.
Alex Lundbohm scored his first goal of the season at 06:22 in the third period, with assists coming from Grant Everett and Andrew Harrison. Tyler Czuba made it six Falcon goals on the night after scoring at 07:35. Assisting Czuba was Craner and Jon Halstenson. Gard would score the last goal of the night at 08:44 to make the final score 6-2.
Stephen Ritter played in goal for the Falcons for all 60 minutes of the game. Ritter allowed two goals while making 16 saves. Scott Campbell played all 60 minutes of the game for the Foresters, making 47 saves and allowing six goals.

Falcons Record Second Win After Overtime Victory Against Marian

The Falcon men’s hockey team is now 2-6-1 after defeating the Marian University Sabres in overtime at Hunt Arena on Tuesday night.
Tyler Czuba scored the first goal of the game, his sixth of the season, at 12:13. Assisting Czuba was Jordan McIntye. The Sabres responded after a hooking penalty on Dustin Norman as Todd Collins scored on a power play goal at 17:08. The Sabres scored again at 18:57 as Ryan Hitchcock would score a power play goal after an interference penalty on John Bullis.
Bill Pinel would tie the score at 14:43 in the second period on a power play after an interference penalty on Lane Boswell. Assisting Pinel was McIntye, the goal was Pinel’s first of the season. Andrew Harrison extended the Falcon lead by one after scoring his second goal of the season at 16:15, with an assist from Alex Lundbohm.
Jamie Ruff scored his second goal of the season at 9:33 in the third period to extend the Falcon lead by two. Assisting Ruff was Derek Hansberry and Ben Beaudoin. The Sabres would strike back at 13:15 with a goal from Adam Freeman and at 19:24 with a goal from Brendan Hull to tie the score. At 4-4, the Falcons went into overtime with the Sabres for the second time this season.
Nolan Craner scored the game winning goal in overtime, his second goal of the season, at 4:34. Assisting Craner was Czuba and Josh Meyers.

Falcons Are 1-6-1 After Loss Against UW-Stevens Point

The Pointers of UW-Stevens Point defeated the Falcons by a score of 5-3 after an intense matchup at Willett Arena.
Pointer Ross Johnson scored the first goal of the game at 01:30 in the first period on goaltender Tyler Owens. Luke Nesper extended the Pointer lead by two by scoring a goal thirty seconds later. Travis Erstad continued to rack up the goals for the Pointers after scoring a goal at 17:50. The Falcons were held scoreless in the period.
Falcon freshman John Bullis scored the first goal of his collegiate career at 3:44 in the second period. Assisting Bullis was Sean Roadhouse and Jamie Ruff. At 18:49, Jon Madden scored his eighth goal of the season to bring the Pointer lead back to three entering the third period.
Russell Law extended the Pointer lead to four after scoring an unassisted goal at 1:29 in the third period. After several penalties on UW-Stevens Point, Derek Hansberry would strike back for the Falcons and score on a five to two man power play. Assisting Hansberry was Roadhouse and Ruff. Hansberry would go on to score another power play goal at 19:48, with assists coming from Grant Everett and Ruff.
Owens played in goal for 20:00 and made 11 saves while allowing three goals. Stephen Ritter played 40:00, making 10 saves and allowing two goals. Thomas Speer played all 60 minutes in net for the Pointers, making 20 saves and allowing three goals.
The Falcons will go on to face the Sabres of Marian University on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. at Hunt Arena. UWRF opened up the season with a 4-4 tie with Marian on Oct. 24.

Blugolds Drop Falcons in NCHA Matchup

The Falcon men’s hockey team is now 1-5-1 after a disappointing 6-1 loss to the Blugolds of UW-Eau Claire at Hobbs Ice Center on Friday Night.
Joe Bluhm of the Blugolds scored the first goal of the night early in the first period on Falcon goaltender Stephen Ritter. The goal came at 04:30 with assists coming from Andrew Johnson and Jesse Vesel. Bluhm would strike back later in the period, at 18:24, to score his second goal of the night. Assisting him were once again, Johnson and Vesel. The goal was Bluhm’s seventh of the season.
After an interference penalty on Falcon Tyler Pederson, Tyler Trudell would go on to extend the Blugold lead by three on a power play goal at 02:20. The goal was Trudell’s first of the season. At 05:26, Bryan Plazscz scored his second goal of the season to further the Blugold lead. The Falcons would capitalize on a tripping penalty on Greg Peterson of Eau Claire, as Tyler Czuba scored the only Falcon goal of the game on a power play at 15:38. Assisting Czuba was Josh Kamrass and Nolan Craner. The goal was Czuba’s fifth of the season.
The Blugolds offense proved to be relentless as Sean Garrity scored his sixth goal of the season at 02:23 in the third period. At 12:54, Nic Weight scored his first goal of the season to make the final score of the game 6-1.
Starting in goal for the Falcons was Ritter, who made 11 saves, allowed three goals and played for 25:16. Bo Storozuk would go on to play the rest of the game with 34:44. Storozuk allowed three goals while making 17 saves. Tyler Brigl played all 60 minutes for the Blugolds, allowing one goal and making 29 saves.
The Falcons will play at Stevens Point in an NCHA matchup tomorrow night. Opening face off is at 7:30 p.m.

Falcons Shut Out at Hunt Arena

The Falcons are now 1-4-1 after being shut out by the Yellowjackets of UW-Superior on Saturday night at Hunt Arena.
Yellowjacket Eric Bausano scored an unassisted goal, the first goal of the game, at 07:11 in the first period. The goal was Bausano’s second of the season. The Falcons led the Yellowjackets seven shots to six in the period, but were unable to capitalize on several key penalties. UWRF had three power play opportunities in the period but the UW-Superior defense was able to hold the Falcons scoreless.
Chris Wilson scored his fifth goal of the season at 16:18 in the second period to extend the Yellowjacket lead by two. Assisting Wilson were teammates Jeff Herman and Logan Isley. The Falcons led UW-Superior ten shots to five, but it wasn’t enough to get past Yellowjacket goaltender Chad Beiswinger.
The Falcons had few offensive opportunities in the third period with several penalties and only three shots on goal. After a tripping penalty on Falcon Jon Halstenson, Braden Desmet would go on to score his fifth goal of the season and extend the UW-Superior lead by three. Assisting Desmet on the goal were Kent Detlefsen and Seth Reda.
Stephen Ritter played all 60 minutes of the game, and now holds a record of 1-1-1 this season. Ritter made 23 saves, 14 of which were in the third period. Beiswenger was in net for the Yellowjackets for 59:50. He made 20 saves and allowed zero goals.
The Falcons will head to Eau Claire to battle the Blugolds on Friday in an NCHA matchup. Opening face off is at 7 p.m.

Falcons Advance to 1-3-1 After Defeating St. Scholastica

The Falcons earned their first win of the season after defeating the College of St. Scholastica on Friday night at Hunt Arena. The final score of the game was 6-3.
Joey Martini of St. Scholastica scored the first goal of the game at 11:27 in the first period on a power play after a hooking penalty by Jason Yuel. The Falcons were quick to respond however, as Derek Hansberry scored his first of two goals in the game at 13:06. Hansberry was unassisted.
Dustin Norman capitalized early in the second period on an interference penalty by Neil Sauter of St. Scholastica, and scored a power play goal at 04:54. Norman was assisted by Sean Roadhouse and Ben Beaudoin. Hansberry would then score his second goal of the night at 10:29, the goal was Hansberry’s third of the season. Shortly after, Jordan McIntyre scored his second goal of the season at 10:43 to bring the Falcons to a score of 4-1 entering the third period.
Aaron Spotts of the Saints scored his first goal of the season at 04:12, followed by a goal by Jeremy Dawes at 04:53 to shorten the St. Scholastica deficit by two early in the third period. At 15:00, Tyler Czuba scored his first of two goals in the evening with assists coming from Nolan Craner and McIntyre. The Saints were forced to pull their goalkeeper in the closing minutes of the third period, which lead Czuba to score an unassisted open net goal at 18:47. The goal was Czuba’s fourth of the season.
Stephen Ritter was in net for the Falcons, played all 60 minutes and made 34 saves on 37 shots on goal. Steve Bounds was in net for the Saints, played 59:53 and allowed six goals on 38 shots, making 32 saves.
The Falcons will face off against Superior in another NCHA matchup at Hunt Arena tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m.

Penalties Nag Falcons in Loss Against Gustavus Adolphus

The Falcons were defeated by the Gusties of Gustavus Adolphus College on Saturday night by a score of 6-4 during a penalty ridden game in Mankato.
Gustie Mitch Carlson scored the first goal of the game on a power play at 4:34 in the first period. At 14:20, David Martinson scored his eighth goal of the season to put the Gusties up by two. Falcon Jordan McIntyre shortened the deficit with a goal at 15:00, with assists coming from Ben Beaudoin and Grant Everett. After several Falcon penalties, the Gusties responded with a power play goal by Spencer Campion at 18:14.
Derek Hansberry scored the only goal of the second period on a power play at 10:33. After two holding penalties on Gustavus Adolphus, Hansberry was able to score the unassisted goal as the Falcons were up by two men. This was Hansberry’s first goal of the season.
Rory Dynan would strike back for the Gusties early in the third period off an unassisted shorthanded goal at 1:57. The Falcons did not take long to respond, as Nolan Craner scored his first goal of the season at 3:18, with assists coming from Sean Roadhouse and Tyler Czuba. Brad Wieck would extend the Gustie lead at 6:52 by scoring his first goal of the season. Czuba scored his second goal of the season at 11:18 with an assist by Jamie Ruff to shorten the Falcon deficit by one. However, Dennis Webster would score on a power play, his first goal of the season, at 12:49 to make the final score of the game 6-4.
Bo Storozuk played all 60 minutes for the Falcons, making 25 saves and allowing six goals. Matthew Lopes played all 60 minutes for the Gusties, making 26 saves and allowing four goals. The Falcons totaled 30 shots on goal throughout the game, while the Gusties had 31.
The Falcons will face off agains the College of St. Scholastica at Hunt Arena on Friday night at 7:05 p.m.

Oles Defeat Falcons at Hunt Arena

The Falcons are now 0-2-1 after a disappointing loss against the Oles of St. Olaf College on Friday night. The Oles defeated the Falcons by a score of 3-1 at Hunt Arena.
Isak Tranvik of St. Olaf would score the first goal of the game at 10:41 in the second period. The Falcons would tie the score at 1:43 in the third period, when Josh Meyers scored his first goal of the season off an assist by Tyler Czuba. This was the only Falcon goal of the game, despite a clear display of offensive prowess.
The Oles would take the lead at 18:47 in the third period after a goal by Bryan Osmondson. The goal late in the game led the Falcons into pulling goalie Bo Storozuk. The result however, was an unassisted open net goal by Tranvik to make the final score 3-1.
The Falcons had a total of 52 shots on goal throughout the game. 17 shots came in the first period, 20 in the second and 15 in the third. The Oles had 15 shots on goal throughout the game. Two of the shots came in the first period, five in the second period and eight in the third.
Storozuk allowed three goals while making 12 saves for the Falcons. Storozuk played for 59:08. St. Olaf goaltender Nick Krauss played all 60 minutes, allowed one goal and made 51 saves.
The Falcons will go on the road to face the Gusties of Gustavus Adolphus College at 7 p.m. tomorrow night.

Falcons Fall to Pipers of Hamline University

The Falcons are now 0-1-1 after a loss against Hamline University on Friday night. The Pipers outscored the Falcons 2-0.
Piper Dustin Fulton would score his first goal of the season at 1:10 during a power play after an interference penalty. The score would remain the same until Piper Kyle Kurr scored his first goal of the season, also on a power play, at 10:10 in the third period.
The second period proved to be physical as both teams would rack up a total of 18 penalties. The Pipers had three roughing penalties and two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties; however the Falcons were unable to capitalize on the opportunities due to penalties as well.
Bo Storozuk was in net for UWRF for 60 minutes. Storozuk allowed the goals to Fulton and Kurr of Hamline while making 29 saves in the game. Matt Wanvig played all 60 minutes in net for the Pipers, making 27 saves, nine in each period, and allowing 0 goals.
The Falcons are heading home to Hunt Arena on Friday to battle the St. Olaf Oles. Opening face off is at 7:05 p.m.

Falcons Tie 4-4 Against Marian University in Season Opener

The Falcons opened up the 2008 hockey season at home with a 4-4 tie against the Sabres of Marian University on Friday night at Hunt Arena.
Andrew Harrison of the Falcons scored the first goal of the season at 6:26 in the first period, with an assist from Ben Beaudoin. The Sabres tied the score after an unassisted goal by Kyle Rasmussen at 16:18. UWRF responded quickly as Sean Roadhouse scored an unassisted goal at 17:06 to bring the score to 2-1 Falcons after one.
At 6:39 of the second period, Tyler Czuba scored to take the Falcons up by two. The assist came from Dustin Norman and Sean Pettinger. The Sabres would strike back with three consecutive goals to take a 4-3 lead. The first goal coming from Jason Ford at 12:39 of the second period. The second goal was scored by Lane Boswell at 3:32 in the third period. Adam Freeman would then get a goal on a powerplay at 12:03.
With three minutes remaining in the game, Jamie Ruff came up big for the Falcons with a goal to tie up the score. Assisting Ruff were Beaudoin and Harrison. The game would go into a five minute scoreless overtime period thanks to the stunning clutch performance by Falcon goaltender Stephen Ritter.
Ritter played all 65 minutes of the game, allowing four goals and making 25 saves. Marian University goaltender Jason Jadczak would allow four goals while making 43 saves. The Falcon offense proved to be relentless throughout the game with 47 shots compared to 29 shots by the Sabres.
The Falcons will go on the road to face the Pipers of Hamline University on Friday at 7 p.m.
