Dec. 10, 2008 Center Scott Witte (Sr., Cedarburg, Wis.) and wide receiver Michael Zweifel (So., Whitewater, Wis.) have both been named to the 2008 D3football.com All-West Region third team. Witte, 6-6, 333 pounds, was a unanimous selection to the first All-WIAC team in 2008. He earned honorable mention to the All-WIAC teams in 2006 and 2007. He has started at center for the Falcons for four straight seasons. After the 2005 season he was named the team's Freshman Offensive Player of the Year. Zweifel, 6-1, 185 pounds, has been named to the first All-WIAC teams in both of his seasons at UWRF. This year he led the WIAC in receptions with 79 and receiving yards with 974. He caught four touchdown passes. He averaged 12.3 yards per catch and averaged 108.2 receiving yards per game. He was named the WIAC Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 6 after he helped the Falcons beat UW-Stevens Point, 36-30. He caught 16 passes for 139 yards and scored twice on receptions of 17 and 18-yards. He was named the team's Offensive Player of the Week four times and Special Teams Player of the Week once during the season. In his career he has caught 176 passes for 2,030 yards and 13 touchdowns. Zweifel was named to the second D3football.com All-West team in 2007. The Falcons finish the season with a 3-7 overall record and they were 2-5 in the WIAC. |
