Ashley Peterson is one of the top all-around soccer performers in the WIAC. She has the talent and skill to play any position on the field. She has started many games at either forward or defense, and moved to the other position at critical moments. Peterson will be among the leaders in goals, assists and points when her career is over. Entering the 2006 season she has 20 goals, and 16 assists for 56 career points.
2005: Peterson was once again one of the team's leaders and was named the Most Valuable Player and the Most Valuable Defensive Player. She was named to the All-WIAC team for the third straight season. She concentrated on the defensive part of the game and so didn't score like she had in previous seasons. She had two assists and started all 19 games. She helped the Falcon defense shut down opponents' top scorers. Peterson was named the team's Defensive Player of the Week three times during the season - on Sept. 26, Oct. 10 and Oct. 24. She had 14 shots and eight were on goal. Peterson was named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll for the third time.
2004: Peterson had a second outstanding season finishing with 13 goals and eight assists for 34 points. The 34 points is eighth most in a single season for the Falcons. The 13 goals are ninth most in a single season. She played in and started all 18 games and finished second in scoring. Peterson tied for the team lead with four game-winning goals. She tied a Falcon single game record with four goals in a 14-0 win over Superior. She also had two assists in the game. For the second season she was named to the All-WIAC team and was named the team's Most Valuable Player. Peterson was named the team's Offensive Player of the Week twice (Oct. 11, Nov. 1) and the Defensive Player of the Week three times (Sept. 20, Oct. 4, Oct. 18). In WIAC play, Peterson finished fifth in points (1.89), seventh in goals (13), eighth in assists (8) and third in game-winning goals (4). Peterson was named to the UW-RF Dean's List after the 2005 spring semester. She was named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll for the second straight season.
2003: Peterson had a great rookie season with the Falcons and was named to the All-WIAC team. She finished with seven goals and six assists for 20 points when the team won the WIAC Championship. She played and started all 21 games and she tied for second in points. She had four game-winning goals, second on the team. Peterson was named the team's Offensive Player of the Week twice (Sept. 29, Oct. 13) and Defensive Player of the Week once (Sept. 8). She was named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll.
High School, Personal: Peterson was named to the first all-conference team for three straight seasons and earned honorable mention once. Four times she was named Forest Lake High School's Most Valuable Player. She likes to hang out with friends and family, playing soccer and tennis, watching movies and bowling. Her favorite soccer moment was winning the 2003 WIAC Championship. Her high school coach was Jeny Hurd. She is the daughter of Gail and Bob. Peterson is majoring in health & human performance.
