Falcon Men's Hockey Player of the Week
Feb. 19, 2007 Defenseman Jim Henkemeyer (Jr., St. Cloud, Minn.) played a key role as the Falcons beat Lake Forest twice, 4-1 and 7-1, in the first round of the NCHA playoffs at Hunt Arena last weekend. He picked up an assist on the game-winning goal on Friday. It was a power play goal. On Saturday he assisted on another Falcon power-play goal. "He kick started our break out and did a great job of running our power-play from the top," said Falcon Coach Steve Freeman. Henkemeyer has scored eight goals and 16 assists for 24 points this year. He is fourth on the team in points. |

Feb. 12, 2007 Goalie AJ Bucchino (Jr., Bow, N.H.) came up with two strong games in helping the Falcons win the NCHA regular season championship last weekend. The Falcons beat UW-Stout, 4-1, on Friday at Hunt Arena and took a dramatic 4-3 overtime win over Stout on Saturday. On Friday Bucchino made 36 saves, including 18 in a third period when Stout out shot the Falcons, 18-7. Bucchino came back on Saturday with another outstanding effort making 37 saves. UWRF was out shot in the game, 40-21. In the two games he made 73 saves and had a .948 save percentage. Bucchino ends the regular season with a 19-4-2 record with a 2.22 goals against average and a .931 save percentage. |

Jan. 29, 2007 Forward Derek Hansberry (So., Arvada, Col.) helped the Falcons pick up an important point on a tough NCHA road trip last weekend. The Falcons lost on Friday at St. Norbert, 3-2, and came back to earn a 2-2 overtime tie at Lake Forest on Saturday. The 6-0, 195 pounder scored the team's first goal at St. Norbert at :56 of the second period. The goal tied the game at the time. At Lake Forest he scored the game-tying goal with just 42 seconds to play. He leads the Falcons with 16 goals and has 27 points. |

Jan. 22, 2007 Goalie AJ Bucchino (Jr., Bow, N.H.) helped lead the Falcons to two wins last weekend and picked up his first shutout of the season. The Falcons beat UW-Stevens Point, 3-0, on Friday and UW-Eau Claire, 4-1, on Saturday. Bucchino stopped 24 shots in the win over Stevens Point. It was his third career shutout. On Saturday he stopped 32 shots to improve his record to 16-2-1. "AJ again made all the important saves he needed to," said Falcon Coach Steve Freeman. "He helped us weather the storm when we didn't play well in front of him. That's a sign of a good goalie and it means so much to the team." UWRF was out shot, 16-5, in the first period against Eau Claire, but he stopped all the shots to help the Falcons enter the locker room in a 0-0 tie. Bucchino has a 2.07 goals against average and a .935 save percentage this season. |

Jan. 15, 2007 Goalie AJ Bucchino (Jr., Bow, N.H.) played a key role in the team's weekend road sweep of St. Thomas, 2-1, and St. Mary's, 5-2. Bucchino, 5-10, 185 pounds, stopped 36 of 37 shots in the win at St. Thomas and came back the next night to make 39 saves on 41 shots at St. Mary's. He finished the weekend with a 2-0 record and a .961 save percentage. "AJ played brilliantly both nights. He was the difference maker," said Falcon Coach Steve Freeman. Bucchino has a 14-2-1 record with a 2.27 goals against average and a .929 save percentage this year. |

Jan. 8, 2007 Forward Pat Borgestad (Jr., St. Paul, Minn.) helped the Falcons to a 4-4 overtime tie with Marian and a 7-4 win over Bethel. The 6-3, 205 pounder scored the team's second goal at Marian. He netted the power-play goal at 18:17 of the second period and that cut the Marian lead to 3-2. He then picked up an assist on the game-tying goal that came with just 3:05 to play. On Saturday Borgestad scored at 8:49 of the third period to tie the game, 4-4. He has scored nine goals and has 20 points this year. He has scored three power-play goals and two game-winners. |

Dec. 4, 2006 Defenseman Jim Henkemeyer (Jr., St. Cloud, Minn.) played a huge role in the Falcons two NCHA victories over the weekend. The Falcons beat Lake Forest, 3-1, on Friday and then beat No. 1 ranked St. Norbert, 3-2, on Saturday. Henkemeyer first assisted a second period TJ Dahl score against Lake Forest. Henkemeyer, 5-11, 183 pounds, recorded two goals against St. Norbert to push the Falcon win streak to nine. His first score cam 3:54 into the game and his second came 16:18 into the third and that proved to be the game winner. "Jim has been an offensive force for us this season," said Falcon Head Coach Steve Freeman. "He has been extremely effective running our power play and playing from the blue line." He now has six goals and 10 points. |

Nov. 20, 2006 Forward Derek Hansberry (So., Arvada, Col.) scored two goals and an assist over a two game span this past weekend as the Falcons opened NCHA play with a 2-0 record. Hansberry scored two key goals in a 3-1 River Falls win at UW-Eau Claire on Friday. Hansberry scored what proved to be the game-winner at 2:34 of the second period,. Hansberry then scored a game-sealing goal into an empty net with 13 second remaining in the contest. In a 4-3 win at Stevens Point, Hansberry assisted Chris Robinson's first score of the season 17:25 into the second period. Hansberry now has five goals and four assists for nine points on the season. |

Nov. 13, 2006 Forward TJ Dahl (Jr., Burnsville, Minn.) scored two goals and picked up two assists in two Falcon victories over the weekend. In a 5-4 win at Augsburg, Dahl scored the first goal of the game 2:41 into the first period, assisted on the second score of the game by Pat Borgestad (10:42), and recorded the game winning score at 16:36 in the third period. The Falcons then came home on Saturday and knocked off St. John’s 4-1. Dahl picked up one assist in the game on Derek Hansberry’s goal coming 7:55 into the third period. “TJ continues to be a leader for us,” said Falcon Coach Steve Freeman. “He is off to a tremendous start and is a true definition of a student-athlete.” Dahl leads the team with five goals and seven assists for 12 points. He has scored four power-play goals and three game-winners. |

Nov. 6 , 2006 Forward Dustin Norman (So., South Delta, B.C.) netted one goal and three assists in the Falcons two victories against Gustavus Adolphus and St. Olaf last weekend. In the 4-2 win at Gustavus, Norman assisted on Derek Hansberry's score which came at 18:46 of the second period. Against St. Olaf in a 3-1 win, Norman scored the first goal of the game :24 second in and then assisted Jim Henkemeyer's game winning goal at 19:20 in the second and then Henkemeyer's second score of the game at 8:48 in the third. Norman now has five points on the year including two goals and three assists. "Dustin does a great job playing up front," said Falcon Coach Steve Freeman. "He has a great shot and provides great offensive play for us." |

Oct. 30, 2006 Forward TJ Dahl (Jr., Burnsville, Minn.) scored two goals and two assists in two games at Hunt Arena last weekend. He scored two goals in a 6-4 win against Lawrence on Saturday and added one assist. Dahl, 6-1, 195, put in his first goal at 2:50 of the first period and tacked on another at 14:10 of the third period. He second goal proved to be the game winner. He also assisted on a second period Pat Borgestad goal. Dahl also had an assist in a 3-2 loss to Eau Claire on Friday on a Jim Henkemeyer score. Dahl leads the Falcons in points with four. "TJ is one of our captains and he is a leader," said Falcon Coach Steve Freeman. "He is definitely one of our most consistent players." |
