Anderson, Tenut, Buker All Recognized

Three Earn Honorable Mention to Football Gazette Pre-Season All-America Team

Three Falcon football players have earned honorable mention to the 2006 Football Gazette pre-season All-America team. The magazine is published by Don Hansen.

Running back Nathan Anderson, offensive guard Nathan Tenut and linebacker Dan Buker all were recognized.

Anderson, a junior from Marinette, Wis., was named to the first All-WIAC team in 2005 after rushing for 1,265 yards. The team's Most Valuable Player and Offensive Player of the Year was third in the WIAC in rushing. He averaged 4.5 yards per carry and scored six touchdowns. He tied a UWRF record with 44 carries against Eau Claire in 2005. He started all 10 games for the Falcons and he rushed for more than 200 yards twice and for more than 100 yards in three other games. His best game was against Eau Claire when he rushed for 230 yards. He now has 10 career 100+ rushing games. His long run of the year was 36 yards against Eau Claire. He also caught three passes for 36 yards and one touchdown. Anderson was named the WIAC Offensive Player of the Week for his game against Pacific Lutheran. He was named the team's Player of the Week four times - against Stout, Eau Claire, Pacific Lutheran and Con.-St. Paul. He was named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll. In his career he has rushed for 2,141 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Tenut, a junior from Phillips, Wis., started every game in the line for the Falcons in 2005. The 6-8, 310 pounder was named the team's Offensive Player of the Week against Platteville for helping the Falcons rush for 350 yards and three touchdowns. He was also named the team's Offensive Player of the Week against La Crosse as he helped the Falcon offense rush for 219 yards and score two rushing touchdowns.

Buker, a senior from Waseca, Minn., started all 10 games and was fourth on the team with 60 tackles. In a win over Oshkosh he had led the team with two solo and eight total tackles. He was named the Defensive Player of the Week against Whitewater when he had five solo and seven total tackles. The 5-11, 215 pounder finished with 3.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, one pass breakup and two QB hurries. He also added one forced fumble against Pacific Lutheran. Buker was named to the UW-RF Dean's List after both semesters. He was named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll for the second straight season. In his career he has registered 78 solo and 143 total tackles.

The Falcons open their 2006 season on Sept. 9 at St. John's, Minn. Game time is 1 p.m.
