Saufl Named to Second CoSIDA District 5 Team

Falcon midfielder Kim Saufl (Sr., Champlin, Minn.) has been named to the second College Sports Information Directors of America/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 5 soccer team.

Saufl was second in scoring for the Falcons this year. She had 10 goals and eight assists for 28 points. She finished her career with 15 goals and nine assists. Saufl was named the team's Offensive Player of the Week twice during the 2006 season. Saufl is majoring in accounting and business administration. She was named to the UWRF Dean's List after the fall 2005 and spring 2006 semesters. She was a team captain and was named to the 2006 Advantage Cup All-Tournament team. Saufl was named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll after the 2005-06 school year.

The Academic All-America program honors male and female student-athletes annually who have succeeded at the highest level on the playing field and in the classroom. Individuals are selected through voting by CoSIDA, a 2,000 member organization consisting of sports public relations professionals for colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.

To be eligible, a student-athletes must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the programs inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA covering all NCAA championship sports.

The Falcons finish the year with a 10-7-2 overall record and a 5-3 record in the WIAC. The team advanced to the WIAC Tournament semifinals for the fifth straight year.
