In this his senior season, Falcon place kicker Spasimir Bodurksi anchors a strong special teams unit.

Bodurski, a two-year starter, has progressively improved his kicking and his confidence has risen.

"I've learned a lot over the past few years playing football at RF. I've become very confident in my ability to come into the games and make critical field goals," Bodurski said.

The most notable field that Bodurski has made over the years at RF would be the game winner he had last season at UW-Oshkosh in a thrilling 13-10 overtime victory.

"That was by the far the best moment I have had kicking the ball for the Falcon football team and I hope there will be plenty of more opportunities in the future," Bodurski said.

He was named the WIAC special teams player of the week following that game.

Ever since joining the football program in 2002, Bodurski feels that UW-RF was the place that he always wanted to be because it offered him the opportunity to extend his football career.

"I have made a lot of life-long friends here at RF. The guys on the football team will be part of my life as long as I live," Bodurksi said.

Bodurski 5-11, 215 pounds is much stronger than ordinary kickers. He has used his soccer skills and brought them to the football field.

Bodurski who came to the United States from Bulgaria for his senior year in high school never really knew about the game of football. He was a power-lifter and a soccer player in his native country.

He transferred to UW-RF from Southeast Missouri State where he learned a lot about the game of football.

"The coach at SMS was very helpful. He was one of the best coaches that I have ever had. He really helped me with kicking the ball farther and straighter," Bodurski said.

"The transition to American football was easy for me because I tried out for the team in high school and they said I should be the kicker because I could hit the ball a long ways," Bodurksi said.

Bodurksi feels that his range is anywhere from 55-57 yards and feels that if the opportunity arose then he would go in the game and make it.

Last year Bodurksi kicked a school record 47-yard field goal against UW-Platteville at Ramer Field.

"My goal is to not miss another field goal this year and I want to break the school record again for the longest field goal," Bodurski said.

A few of his interests in include soccer, hanging out with friends, and the social atmosphere on the weekends.

He is the son of Sashka Stanimirova and he is majoring in accounting.

Bodurski feels that top to bottom the WIAC is one of the toughest conferences in Div. III. He feels that Whitewater and La Crosse are two of the toughest teams in the league this season.

"I feel that if all three areas of the team play well, then we have a chance to beat anybody on any given day. I feel that this season we have a great chance to make some noise in the conference," Bodurski said.

He also said that everyone should show up to the Falcon home games this season because they are going to be fun and exciting.
