The UW-River Falls women's basketball team has six wins under its belt this season and Megan Lindman will help improve that mark once she is able to return to action.

Lindman first started her basket career in sixth grade and never looked back.

"My best friend's grandfather saw how tall I was when I was younger and told my friend that I needed to get involved in basketball."

Lindman grew up having a sister and a brother to go along with her parents, and sibling rivalry was always going on, mainly between Lindman and her brother.

Lindman attended Rochester Mayo High School and showed a lot of promise.

For her high school career, Lindman averaged just over 13 points per game to go along with 13 rebounds per contest.

When asked what she remembers most from her younger days of basketball, Lindman said, "I was able to dress for the high school varsity when I was in eighth grade and the team was extremely good at the time."

Following three all-conference seasons, two conference titles, and one state tournament appearance, it was time for Lindman to move on to the college ranks.

Lindman was recruited by both Eau Claire and River Falls but made her final decision of River Falls based on Falcon Coach Cindy Hovet's recruiting effort.

"She seemed to put a lot more time into recruiting me and made me feel like I would help the program a lot."

In her freshman Falcon season, Lindman averaged 9.1 points and 8.2 rebounds each game and cracked the starting lineup twice.

Lindman improved her scoring to 8.9 points per game in her sophomore season while appearing in 25 games.

Lindman's favorite Falcon moment was when the team knocked off Eau Claire last season on a last second shot. River Falls won the game 49-47.   Lindman dropped in eight points and six rebounds in that game.

This season Lindman is averaging just less than 9 points and 5 rebounds.

"Coach Hovet has made me into a much better player than I ever was. I'm able to ask her questions and get good answers because she is so knowledgeable."

This season has been rough for Lindman as she is having problems staying healthy.

"My goal for this season is to finally get healthy and to be a consistent player."

In her spare time Lindman enjoys spending time with her friends and singing. "I still sing in wedding once in a while which is really fun."

For the rest of J-Term, Lindman plans on improving her health.

"For the second half of the season we need to become a more consistent team.   Sometimes we start out flat and other times we go on runs. We just need to learn to balance those moments of play."

Lindman is majoring in broad area English and is looking to graduating in 2008.
