2005 Preview
The Falcon volleyball team has four starters returning and will use their talents and experience to build upon in 2005.
Middle hitter Andrea Geehan, setter Kat Krtnick, libero Lindsey Mace and outside hitter Katie Thompson are the returnees. Geehan, Krtnick and Thompson all earned honorable mention to the All-WIAC team. In WIAC play Geehan was 13th in hitting percentage (.254), 18th in kills per game (2.85) and 14th in bocks (.90).
Krtnick finished 36th in the NCAA Div. III in assists per game (15.5) and in WIAC play she was fourth. She was 18th in digs (3.34). Thompson finished 10th in kills (3.34) and 12th in aces (.39) in conference play. Mace finished ninth in digs (3.93) in WIAC play.
"We did lose three seniors who had significant playing time," said Falcon Coach Patti Ford about the loss of outside hitters Nina Petersen and Logan Kiesch and middle hitter Gina Anderson. "That will certainly change our look. But with our returning players we are in good shape to be successful. The returning players' experience will pay off this year. We will rely heavily on our returnees to fill any voids and work our newcomers in as the season onfolds."
Other returning letter winners include: setter Barbie Soine; outside hitters Tressa Gustafson and Molly Thompson and middle hitter Kiah Sagami. Ford thinks the 2005 schedule will be tough. "We are playing more teams from our region - the competition will be a challenge." In the WIAC, she thinks Whitewater, La Crosse and Eau Claire will be at the top of the pack.
