Barbie Soine
S/L, 5-3, Senior, #1

Montevideo High School

Barbie Soine returns for her second and senior season with the Falcons. She can play both the setter and libero positions. "Barbie will position herself to help as a defensive specialist. She is a very good athlete with great depth for the game. She will help the team get out of tough situations as a passing and defensive specialist," Coach Patti Ford said.
2004: Soine played in 32 games and finished with 45 digs and five assists. She earned her first letter with the Falcons.
High School & Personal: Soine is also a member of the UW-RF track & field team. During the outdoor season she competed in the 100 and 200-meter dashes, the triple jump, long jump and 100-meter hurdles. In the indoor season she competed in the 55, 200 and 400-meter dashes, the 55-meter hurdles, the triple jump and the long jump. Soine competed at Montevideo High School where she was named the conference's Most Valuable Player in 2001. She was named to the all-conference team three times and to the all-Area team twice. She was also her team's Most Valuable Player in 2001. She is the school's all-time assist lead with 2,199. A multi-talented athlete, she earned all-conference recognition twice in basketball and five times in track & field. She was the basketball team's Most Valuable Player and the track & field team's Most Valuable Player in 2002. Soine's hobbies including going out with friends and playing wiffle ball. Her high school coach was John Mader. She is the daughter of Lois and Mark. Soine is majoring in health & human performance with a coaching minor.

Barbie Soine

Andrea Geehan

Andrea Geehan will play an important role with the Falcons again in 2005 at the middle hitter position. "Andrea is an essential ingredient in the line up. She will be one of the team's biggest offensive threats and her physical presence will be a plus," Coach Patti Ford said.
2004: Geehan earned honorable mention to the All-WIAC team after she finished second in kills with 382. She had a .254 hitting percentage which led the team. She was second in aces (43) and total blocks (120). She led the team with 25 block solos and she was third in block assists with 95. Geehan also had 116 digs. She had double digit kills in 22 of the team's matches and had a season and career high 23 kills against Eau Claire (Sept. 25). She had season and career best nine blocks (one solo, eight assists) against Superior (Oct. 13). Geehan had a career best 15 digs against Northwestern (Sept. 14). She twice had four aces in a match and they both were against Stevens Point (Sept. 25, Oct. 16). In WIAC play Geehan was 13th in hitting percentage, 18th in kills per game and 14th in bocks.
2003: Geehan gained valuable playing time in her first year when the Falcons won the WIAC title. In her freshman season she played 42 games and had 60 kills, 12 aces, 27 digs and 19 blocked shots. Geehan had a season high seven kills against Superior (Oct. 1). She had a season high four block assists against Oshkosh (Nov. 7) in the WIAC Tournament semifinals. She added four kills in that match. She earned her first letter.
High School & Personal: Geehan earned all-conference honors in 2001, 2002 and 2003 at Como Park High School. Her hobby includes playing softball. She is the daughter of Sheila and Bob. Geehan is majoring in health & human performance with coaching and criminal justice minors.

Andrea Geehan

Tressa Gustafson is in her third year with the Falcons and plays outside hitter. "As one of the top reserves in 2004, Tressa's role will increase as she has all the offensive and defensive skills to become one of the top outside hitters for the Falcons. She is a solid ball-control player who will do a majority of the passing this season," Coach Patti Ford said.
2004: Gustafson played in 51 games and finished with 55 kills, 11 aces, 123 digs and seven blocked shots (one solo). The 123 digs were seventh on the team. She earned the team's Super Sub Award. She had a season and career high 14 kills against Edgewood (Oct. 22). She had five matches with double digits digs. Her best effort was 17 digs against Superior (Oct. 30). She had a season high four blocks (all assists) against Central (Oct. 23).
2003: Gustafson was a member of the Falcon junior varsity team.
High School & Personal: Gustafson earned all-conference honors at North Branch High School. She earned the team's Most Spirited and Most Improved awards in 2002. Her hobbies include swimming scrap booking, roller blading, shopping and reading poetry. Her high school coach was Jim Van Eirden. Her sister, Cara, was an All-American volleyball player for the Falcons in the mid-1990s. She is the daughter of Sandy and Tom. Gustafson is majoring in marketing and a speech communications minor.

Tressa Gustafson

Kat Krtnick

Kat Krtnick is a talented player whose versatility and skills make her one of the top players in the WIAC. She will play both the setter and outside hitter spots for the Falcons. "Kat's talents and versatility make her one of the top players in the WIAC. She loves the game and that's one of the reasons she is so successful. All around the court she doesn't have a weakness and is only getting better," Coach Patti Ford said.
2004: Playing setter throughout the season, Krtnick earned honorable mention to the All-WIAC team. She won the team's Hardest Worker award after leading the Falcons in assists (1,575). She was the only Falcon to play in every game. She had 100 kills. She was third in aces (37) and digs (458). Krtnick finished 36th in the NCAA Div. III in assists per game and in WIAC play she was fourth. She was 18th in digs in the WIAC. She had 38 blocks. She is fourth in assists in a single season and is already fifth in all-time assists at UW-RF. She will probably be in the top 10 in digs after this season. She had double digit assists in every match with a career high 66 against Eau Claire (Sept. 25). Krtnick had double digit digs in 27 of the team's 35 matches with a season high 21 twice (Sept. 18 vs. La Crosse; Oct. 8 vs. St. Norbert). In one stretch she had double digit digs in 16 of 17 matches. She had a career high four block assists against Buena Vista (Sept. 10). She was twice named the team's Player of the week - on Sept. 20 and Oct. 11. Krtnick was named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll for the second time.
2003: Krtnick played in several key situations in her freshman season when the Falcons won the WIAC Championship. She appeared in 102 games, more than any other first year player, and played outside hitter. She had a career high 12 kills against Lake Forest (Sept. 12) and a career high 34 digs against Nebraska-Wesleyan (Oct. 10). Krtnick had double digit digs in 20 matches and she had 423 digs, fourth on the team. She was named the team's Rookie of the Year. She was named the team's Player of the Week on Sept. 15. Krtnick was named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll.
High School & Personal: At UW-RF Krtnick is a member of the Recreation staff this year. She was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee during the 2004-05 academic year and will be involved in the group this year. In the 2004-05 school year she was the vice chair of the Recreation Committee. She has been named to the UW-RF Dean's List in each of the previous four semesters. Krtnick was named to the St. Paul Pioneer Press third All-State team in 2002. She also earned All-Metro second team honors. She was named to the all-conference team for three seasons at Fridley High School. She led the metro in digs, was her team's Most Valuable Player and twice was the team's captain. She also competed in basketball and earned all-conference honorable mention honors and was the team's captain. Krtnick was named to the Academic All-State team in 2003. She was president of the National Honor Society in 2002-03 and vice-president of the Student Council in 2001-02. She earned the school's Triple 'A' Award for excellence in the arts, athletics and academics. Her high school coach was Ron Kuntz. She is the daughter of Teri Raymond and Dan Krtnick. Krtnick is majoring in biomedical sciences and marketing communications.

Kat Krtnick

Lindsey Mace returns for the 2005 season as the team's starter at the libero position. "Lindsey will be an impact back row player for the Falcons. As the season rolls on, she will not miss a beat. The experience she gained in the 2004 season will keep the Falcons on path to compete at a high level in 2005," Coach Patti Ford said.
2004: Mace had a great sophomore season as the team's libero. She was named the team's Co-Defensive Player of the Year. She placed in 133 games and led the team with 523 digs. She finished in double digits in digs in 30 of the team's 35 matches. She had double digit digs in the team's final 17 matches. Mace finished ninth in digs (3.93) in WIAC play. Twice she had 30 or more digs in a game and had a season and career high 31 against Stout (Oct. 30). She was named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll.
2003: Mace was a member of the Falcon junior varsity when the Falcons won the WIAC Championship.
High School & Personal: Mace was Hastings High School's Most Valuable Player and captain in 2002. She earned all-conference honorable mention honors in 2001 and 2002. She was the basketball team's captain in 2001 and 2002 and earned honorable mention to the all-conference team twice. Mace was a member of the National Honor Society. Her hobbies include hanging out with her friends and singing. Her high school coach was Pam Dombeck She is the daughter of Jeanette and Dan. Mace is majoring in health & human performance with a minor in adapted physical education.

Lindsey Mace

Callie Bjelland-Olson

Callie Bjelland-Olson is a junior academically, but is in her first year with the Falcon volleyball program. She plays setter. She played two seasons at NCAA Div. II Washburn University. "Calllie is a quality setter with great instincts for the game and has played against some of the best when it comes to her experience at Div. II. She will add immediate depth to the Falcons at the setter spot. Her talents allow the Falcons to change the offensive system in any match," Coach Patti Ford said.
High School & Personal: Bjelland-Olson helped Grantsburg High School win the WIAA State Championship in 2001. She earned four letters and earned all-conference honors for three straight seasons. She was named to the State All-Tournament team in 2001. Bjelland-Olson also competed in softball and earned four letters and was named to the all-conference team for four straight seasons. She was a member of the National Honor Society in 2001 and 2002. Her hobbies include reading, bird watching, water skiing and playing golf. Her high school coach was Bill Morrin. Bjelland-Olson's husband's name is Mitchell. She is the daughter of Debbie and Don. Bjelland-Olson is majoring in health & human performance with minors in health and coaching.

Callie Olson

Kate Thompson returns for her third season with the Falcons and will once again play a key role for the team with her play as an outside hitter. She has been one of the team's top players and has shown the talents to be one of the best outside hitters in the WIAC. "Kate is an explosive jumper with a tremendous desire to succeed. A fierce competitor, she has come a long way and there is no doubt that she is one of the top outside hitters in the WIAC. She will once again play a key role for us in 2005," Coach Patti Ford said.
2004: Thompson stepped into the starting lineup and earned honorable mention to the All-WIAC team. She played in 92 games but missed several matches with an injury. She had 307 kills and finished second on the team in average kills per game (3.04). She was fourth in aces (36) and fifth in digs (240). She was named the team's Player of the Week three times (Sept. 27, Oct. 4, Oct. 18). Thompson was named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll. Thompson finished 10th in kills and 12th in aces in conference play.
2003: Thompson got valuable playing time for the Falcons and earned her first letter. She had a season high five kills and five aces against Northland (Sept. 26). She also had five aces against Whitworth (Aug. 30). Thompson earned the team's Most Improved Player award.
High School & Personal: Thompson earned Minnesota All-State honorable mention honors in 2002 while playing at Forest Lake High School. She was named to the 2002 Minnesota State All-Tournament team. Thompson was twice named to the all-conference team and was the team's 2002 captain. He was a member of the National Honor Society and a Link Leader. Her hobbies include watching movies, going to concerts and listening to music. Her high school coach was Sherri Alm. She is the daughter of Maruta and Todd. Her twin sister, Molly, is also a member of the Falcon volleyball team. Thompson is majoring in marketing communications.

Molly Thompson is a two year letter winner and returns for her third year with the Falcons. She plays the right side hitting spot. "With Molly in the line up the Falcons will have a very balanced attack. She is a fundamentally sound player with the ability to play several roles. She is the type of player who has the skill and ability to dominate the offense as an outside or right side hitter," said Coach Patti Ford.
2004: Thompson missed several matches with injuries. She was able to appear in only five games. She was named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll.
2003: Thompson played in eight games as the Falcons won the WIAC Championships. She had seven kills and five digs in her first season with the Falcons. She earned her first letter.
High School & Personal: Thompson earned Minnesota All-State honorable mention honors in 2002 while playing at Forest Lake High School. She was the team's captain in 2002-03 and twice was named to the all-conference team. Thompson was on the Honor Roll and a Link Leader. Her hobbies include listening to music, going to concerts and watching movies. Her high school coach was Sherri Alm. She is the daughter of Maruta and Todd. Molly Thompson

Krista Vandenberg is in her third year with the Falcons and plays the middle hitter spot. "Krista has come a long way throughout her career. She will be relied upon to add depth to the middle hitting position. She has a great physical stature and has worked hard in the off-season to develop strength and quickness. As she progresses so will the strength of the Falcon middle hitters. The Falcons look for her to come in off the bench and give the opponents another look," said Coach Patti Ford.
2004: Vandenberg showed her talents at the middle hitter's spot and was named the team's Most Improved Player. She appeared in nine games and had five kills and one blocked shot.
2003: Vandenberg was a member of the Falcon junior varsity when the Falcons won the WIAC Championship.
High School & Personal: Vandenberg earned three letters in volleyball at Kimberly High School. Her hobbies include traveling and spending time with family and friends. Her high school coach was Jeff VanLannen. She is the daughter of LuAnn and Gary. Vandenberg is majoring in marketing communications with a coaching minor.

Krista Vandenberg

Vanessa Zamzow

Vanessa Zamzow is in her third year with the Falcons and plays the libero position. She is one of the team's captains. "Vanessa is the essence of "team player." She has been a member of the Falcon volleyball team for the past three seasons and though her court time has been minimal, she has made an impact for all around her. She enters the gym with a great disposition and desire and it will pay enormous dividends for all who encounter her. Her leadership skills are beyond top-notch. Everything we teach about athletics Vanessa embodies. Look for her to expand her contributions to one on the court as the season progresses," said Coach Patti Ford.
2004: Zamzow proved to be a valuable member of the team and was named the squad's Most Inspirational award winner. She helped other players develop with her work during practice sessions. She was named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll for the second straight year.
2003: Zamzow was a member of the Falcon junior varsity when the Falcons won the WIAC Championship. She was named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll.
High School & Personal: Zamzow served as vice-president of the UW-RF Student-Athlete Advisory Committee in 2004-05. She was selected as the Winter Carnival Queen in 2003-04. She was a team captain and earned all-conference honorable mention in 2001 while playing at Park Center High School. She was named to the Sun-Post All-Region team. Her high school coach was Beth Modaff. She also competed in track & field and basketball. She earned all-conference honors three times in track & field. She was the captain of the basketball team and was named the team's Outstanding Senior in 2002.   Zamzow was a member of the National Honor Society and earned a Triple 'A' Award for excellence in arts, athletics and academics. She also earned the Star Community Award. Her hobbies include playing volleyball, intramurals and being a member of SAAC. She is the daughter of Patricia Wright and Paul Zamzow. Zamzow is majoring in elementary education with a math minor.

Vanessa Zamzow

Krista Cordes joins the Falcons for her first year of play and will play he right side hitter position. "Krista joins the Falcons for her first year of play. She is a quality athlete and it showed from the beginning of pre-season practice. After being away from competitive volleyball for two years Krista has made a tremendous comeback to the sport. The early indication is that Krista is in a position to compete with the Falcons at the highest level. She is an excellent jumper with tremendous desire to succeed," said Coach Patti Ford.
High School & Personal: Cordes was named Farmington High School's Most Valuable Player three times. She was named to the all-conference team twice. A multi talented athlete, she is also a member of the Falcon basketball team. She has earned two letters with the Falcons on the court. Cordes was her team's Most Valuable Player and two-time all-conference selection in basketball. She also was named to the all-conference golf team twice and was that team's Most Valuable Player. Her hobbies include playing volleyball and basketball and dancing. Her high school coach was Brenda Lund. She is the daughter of Teri and John. Cordes is majoring in business with a Spanish minor.

Susie Ingalls

Susie Ingalls returns for her second year with the Falcons and plays the middle hitting position. "Susie is another good athlete with a good work ethic and when you put those together she's going to develop into a key player for the Falcons. Susie has come a long way throughout her first season; she came into the Falcon volleyball program and picked up on the skills needed to become a dominant Falcon middle. The sophomore will be thrust into the Falcon line-up and will add much needed physical presence at the net," Coach Patti Ford said.
2004: Ingalls was a member of the Falcon junior varsity where she picked up valuable playing time and experience. She earned the UW-RF Freshman Merit honors.
High School & Personal: Ingalls earned four volleyball letters at Webster High School. She was named to the all-conference team in 2003 and earned the Most Blocks Award in 2002. She also earned two letters in basketball. An outstanding student, she earned four academic letters and was named to the 2004 academic all-conference team. In 2004 Ingalls earned the Women's Sports Association of Wisconsin Scholar-Athlete award. Her hobbies include fishing and hunting. Her high school coach was Mindy Widiker. She is the daughter of Cathy and Douglas. Ingalls is majoring in conservation and land use planning.

Susan Ingalls

RH, 5-9, Sophomore, #11

Diana Rogers is in her second year with the Falcons and plays the right side hitting position. "Diana has come a long way throughout her tenure at UW-RF. She is a solid athlete who has worked extremely hard during the off-season. She is fundamentally sound and is capable of playing several roles for the Falcons. She is constantly working to improve the finer areas of the passing and defensive game. Her work ethic brings the level of competition up and makes the players around her play harder and better. Look for Diana to help the Falcons out during tough defensive situations," Coach Patti Ford said.
2004: Rogers played on the junior varsity and picked up valuable techniques and skills during the season. She was named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll.
High School & Personal: Rogers earned all-conference honorable mention honors at Braham High School. She was named the team's Best Hitter in 2002 and Best Server in 2001. As a softball player Rogers was named to the first all-conference team in 2003 and earned honorable mention in 2002. Rogers was a member of the Honor Society from 2001-03. Her hobbies include reading, scrap booking and going out with friends. Her high school coach was Joan Burke. She is the daughter of Carol and Lowell. Rogers is majoring in broadcast journalism.

Krista Russell is in her second year with the Falcon volleyball program and plays the right side hitting spot. "Krista will be called upon to add depth to the right side hitting position. She has great instincts for the game. She is a physically strong player and will help the Falcons as she gains more experience and confidence in her game," Coach Patti Ford said.
2004: Russell was a member of the Falcon junior varsity and got valuable playing time and experience in the Falcon program.
High School & Personal: Russell helped Eastview High School to Top 10 rankings in Minnesota in 2002 and 2003. She earned two volleyball letters. Her hobbies include playing volleyball and hanging out with friends. Her high school coach was Becky Egan. She is the daughter of Ann and Keith. Russell is undecided on a major field of study.

Courtney Schroeder
OH, 5-7, Sophomore, #4

Courtney Schroeder is in her second season with the Falcons. She plays the outside hitter position. "Courtney is a hard-working athlete who has transformed into a reliable outside hitter. She has come a long way since her first year and there is no doubt that she can give the Falcons valuable minutes at either the outside hitter or defensive positions," said Falcon Coach Patti Ford.
2004: Schroeder played with the Falcon junior varsity and practiced daily with the team. She learned and improved her offensive and defensive skills throughout the season. She was named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll.
High School & Personal: Schroeder was named to the all-conference team in 2002 and 2003 while playing at Byron High School. She also earned honorable mention to the all-conference team in 2001. Schroeder also competed in track & field and was named to the all-conference team for five straight seasons. She earned All-State honors in 2003. She also was an academic award winner for four years. Her hobbies include playing volleyball and spending time with family and friends. Her high school coach was Jane Krier. She is the daughter of Cindy and Gene. Schroeder is majoring in elementary education with health and coaching minors.

Kacey Barrett is in her first year with the Falcons and plays the middle hitter spot. "Kacey will add depth and talent at the middle hitter spot. She will be a big surprise to a lot of people. The Falcons look to see her come in and see some time in the front row as she learns the fast transition to the collegiate game," said Falcon Coach Patti Ford.
High School & Personal: Barrett was named to the all-conference team in 2004 and earned honorable mention honors in 2003 at Fridley High School. She also participated in basketball and track & field. She earned all-conference honorable mention recognition and was the team's Most Valuable Senior award in basketball. She was named to the all-conference track & field team for three straight seasons. Barrett was the vice president of the German Club. Her hobbies include drawing and painting, watching movies and hanging out with friends. Her high school coach was Ron Kuntz. She is the daughter of Laurie and Terry. Barrett is majoring in German and art.

Nina Cooper joins the Falcons for her first year of collegiate volleyball and plays outside hitter. "Nina has great instincts for the game. She is a very good all-around athlete. She will continue to get better every time she enters the gym. Look for Nina to develop into a solid outside hitter for the Falcons," Coach Patti Ford said.
High School & Personal: Cooper was named the St. Croix Falls Most Valuable Player in 2004. She was the team's captain and was named to the all-conference team. She earned two volleyball letters. She also lettered in track & field in 2002. Cooper earned Honor Student awards in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004. Her hobbies include playing volleyball, being outdoors, running and swimming. Her high school coach was Steve Magnuson. She is the daughter of Carolyn and Steve. Cooper is majoring in health & human performance with a business minor.

Drew Hample is in her first year with the Falcons and plays the libero position.
High School & Personal: Hample was named Mahtomedi's Best Defensive Player in 2002 and earned all-conference honorable mention honors in 2003. The talented athlete also played basketball and softball. She was the school's Outstanding Senior Athlete in basketball and earned all-conference honorable mention honors. She won the team's Gold Glove Award twice. She was also the cross country team's Hardest Worker in 2004. Hample won the Legion Honor Award for Excellence in Athletics in after her senior season. She was an Academic Honor Student for three years and earned Academic High Honors in 2005. Her hobbies include listening to music, reading and working with children. Her high school coach was Jill Holmstrom. She is the daughter of Patricia and Dirk. Hample is majoring in elementary education with a health education minor.

Abiliene Koch is in her first year with the Falcon volleyball program and plays outside hitter. "Abiliene is an outstanding athlete. She is a great addition to the Falcon volleyball team. She is a hard-working competitor who will develop into a reliable outside hitter for the Falcons," Coach Patti Ford said.
High School & Personal: Koch competed successfully in three sports at Kickapoo High School. She earned all-conference honors in volleyball in 2002, 2003 and 2004. She was the team's Most Valuable Player and captain in 2004. In basketball she was named to the all-conference team twice and was the team captain. She earned four letters in track & field. She was a team captain and the squad's Most Valuable Performer. Koch was a member of the Honors Society from 2001-04. Her hobbies include swimming, listening to music, playing sports and spending time with her family. Her high school coach was Sam Geary. She is the daughter of Rosemary and Daniel. Koch is undecided on a major field of study.

Kerissa Morrin
OH, 5-8, Freshman, #17

Kerissa Morrin starts her first year of collegiate volleyball with the Falcons and plays the outside hitting spot. "Kerissa has all the skills mentally and physically to contribute to the Falcon line-up. The coach's daughter has been around the game of volleyball her entire life. Kerissa knows how to be successful. She has great savvy for the game and amazing ball control which will help her gain court time as a first year player," Coach Patti Ford said.
High School & Personal: Morrin helped lead Granstburg High School to the WIAA State Championship in 2001 and a runner up finish in 2003. She was named to the all-conference team for four straight season s (2001-04). Morrin was named to the WIAA State All-Tournament team in 2001 and again in 2003. She earned honorable mention to the All-State team and competed in the State's All-Star Game in 2004, Morrin also competed in softball and her team finished second in the WIAA Championships in 2003. She was a member of the National Honor Society and earned four academic letters (2002-05). Her high school coach was her father, Bill. Her mother's name is Dana. Morrin is majoring in art education.

Shelby Sand is in her first season with the Falcon volleyball program and plays middle hitter. "Shelby will play an immediate role for the Falcons either in the middle or right-side. She will add some much needed depth and experience to the Falcon line-up. She could position herself to become one of the starting middles. Shelby has play with some of the best when it comes to her club experience with Minnesota One," Coach Patti Ford said.
High School & Personal: Sand helped lead Andover High School to a fourth place finish in the Minnesota State Tournament in 2004. She was voted the team's Most Committed and Big Kill awards winners. She earned all-conference honorable mention twice. Sand was a member of the National Honor Society for two years and earned two academic letters. Her hobbies include music, painting and drawing. Her high school coach was Connie Huberty. She is the daughter of Rhondda and Greg. Sand is majoring in art.
