Duncanson Named CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District June 5, 2006 Falcon track & field athlete Garrett Duncanson (Sr., Mantorville, Minn.) has been named to the 2006 CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Five College Division Men's track & field/cross country team. The team is comprised of all NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA student-athletes from Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Minnesota and is voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Duncanson has had an outstanding career both on the track and in the classroom at UWRF. He was a member of the 4x100 relay team that holds the school record (43.08 set in 2005). He competed in relays, and the 200- and 400-meter dash events during the outdoor season. He had a season best time of 23.73 in the 200 and a season best time of 51.92 in the 400. During the indoor season he competed in the 55-meter, 200-meter and 400-meter events. Duncanson had a season best time of 6.73 in the 55; a 23.79 in the 200 and a 52.6 in the 400. He majored in biology and earned a minor in chemistry. He carried a 3.994 cumulative grade point average and graduated this past May. Duncanson has been a Big Brother - Big Sister Volunteer (2003-06) and did undergraduate research in Sia-1 gene of celegan (2004-05). He was an officer for the Students for Undergraduate Research, Scholarly & Creative Activities Club. He was a member of the UWRF Honors Program (2002-06) and the Biology Club (2002-03). Zweifel Earns All-American Honors at NCAA Meet June 5 , 2006 Shannon Zweifel finished eighth in the 400 hurdles to earn All-American status at the NCAA Div. III track & field championships held May 25-27 at Benedictine University in Lisle, Ill. On Friday, May 26 Zweifel qualified for Saturday's final by setting a school record in the trials. She ran a 1:01.6 to break her 1:01.96 record she set earlier this year. In Saturday's final she placed eighth in 1:02. The winning time was 54.98. She becomes the 32nd Falcon to earn All-America honors in track & field at UWRF. Jill Crandall was the last - she earned the honors in the 2005 outdoor meet in the heptathlon. Brittany Smith also competed in the 400 hurdles and ran a 1:02.57 in the trials, but she did not qualify for the finals. Krista Hasselquist competed in the shot put and she had a best throw of 40-8 ¼, but she did not qualify for the finals. Vicki Cooper competed in the discus and she had a throw of 125-10 in the trials. She did not qualify for the finals. Clint Christy competed in the decathlon but could only finish the first five events that were held on Thursday. He ran an 11.81 in the 100-dash, he jumped 20-8 ½ in the long jump, he threw the shot 37-8 ½, he jumped 5-7 ¾ in the high jump and ran a 52.84 in the 400-dash. He was not able to compete in Saturday's events - the 110 hurdles, the discus, pole vault, javelin or 1,500. |

Five to Compete in NCAA Meet May 22, 2006 Clint Christy will compete for the men in the decathlon. He has the 13th best point total, 6,219, entering the meet. He will compete in the 100-meter dash, long jump, shot, high jump and 400-meter dash on Thursday. On Friday he will compete in the 110 hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and the 1,500-meter run. Shannon Zweifel and Brittany Smith will both compete in the 400 hurdles. Zweifel has the second best time (1:01.96) and Smith has the seventh best time (1:02.33) entering the meet. The trials will be at 5 p.m., on Thursday and the finals are at 3:15 p.m., on Saturday. Vicki Cooper will compete in the discus. She enters the meet with the 19th best distance (140-7). She will compete at 1 p.m., on Thursday. Krista Hasselquist will compete in the shot. She has the 12th best effort in the event entering the meet (44-6 ¼). She will compete at 11 a.m., on Saturday. |

Several Compete at NCAA Qualifying Meet at La Crosse May 19, 2006 Shannon Zweifel improved her time in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:01.96 on Thursday. Her previous best was 1:02.39. The 1:01.96 is a school record and ranks her in the top three of all times in the event this year. Brittany Smith also had a season best time of 1:02.33 in the race. Both provisionally qualify for the race (1:04.3). The automatic qualifying time is 1:01.9. In the 100 hurdles Jessica Reed finished in 14.81, her season's best and a school record. It is a provisional qualifying time. Smith ran a 15.34 and Zweifel a 16.05. Smith's best time this year is 15.26 while Zweifel's is 15.92. The NCAA provisional time is 15.1 and the automatic qualifying time is 14.43. Krista Hasselquist improved her best throw of the season in the shot put. She threw the shot 44-6 1/4 at La Crosse and that is a school record. Her previous best and school record was 44-6. The NCAA provisional distance is 42-2 and the automatic distance is 46-10 1/4.Vicki Cooper competed in the discus and had a throw of 132-10 at La Crosse. Her best effort this year is 140-7. Holly Kromray competed in the pole vault and leaped 10-10. Her best effort this year is 11-0 1/4. The team of Julie Markfort, Amy Peirsak, Smith and Zweifel ran the 4x400 relay and finished in 3:56.93 and that set a school record. The effort broke the previous mark of 3:59.21 set in 1995. The effort is a provisional qualifying time (3:58). The automatic time is 3:49.2. Jason Phillippi ran a season best 9:19.64 in the 3,000 steeplechase at La Crosse. His previous best was 9:26.57. His time is a provisional mark (9:23) and the automatic time is 9:06.4. Ben Kirmse and Scott Degner both ran season best times in the 1,500. Kirmse finished in 4:01.38 and Degner in 4:03.71. Kirmse's previous best was 4:02.98 and Degner's previous best was 4:03.36.The NCAA provisional time is 3:56 and the automatic time is 3:50.6. In the 200, Rick Stewart ran a 23.67 and Matt Chadwick had a season best time of 24.07. His previous best was 24.36.The NCAA provisional time is 21.8 and the automatic time is 21.25. The NCAA Championships are in Lisle, Ill., at Benedictine University from May 25-27. |

Falcon Men Take Eighth, Women Place Fifth at WIAC Meet May 6, 2006 Joe Wienrich finished tied for forth in the high jump with a leap of 6-01.25. Al Moore also scored some points for the Falcons in the high jump by taking seventh with a leap of 6-01.25. Clint Christy finished sixth in the decathlon with a score of 5,868. Darrin Young took seventh in the 400 menter hurdles with a time of 56.13. Jason Phillippi finished eighth in the 1,500-meters with a time of 4:00.96. On day one, Phillippi also helped his team by taking fifth in the steeplechase finishing in 9:26.57. Also on day one, Charlie Sowa took forth in the javelin with a toss of 167-3. The 4x800 relay team also did well on the first day finishing forth with a time of 7:50.64. The women had a good showing at the WIAC meet. Shannon Zweifel became the WIAC champion in the 400 meter hurdles. Zweifel won her race with a time of 1:02.39. She also had a seventh place finish in the 100 meter hurdles clocking in at 15.92. Two other Falcons scored points for the team in that event. Jessica Reed took third in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.99. Brittany Smith placed fifth finishing in 15.45. Smith also did well in the heptathlon, finishing in third with a score of 4,115. Krista Hasselquist had a solid meet. She finished third in the shot put with a toss of 43-1. She also finished fifth in the discus with a throw of 125-4. On day one, Vicki Cooper finished third in the javelin with a throw of 110-10. On Friday, Marlene Yaeger took fifth in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 38:11.73. Right behind her in sixth was Maria Michaud who finished in 38:21.62. Amanda Kozicky got three points for her team by taking sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:39.02. Holly Kromray also contributed to the team score by placing sixth in the pole vault with a vault of 10-09. Some of the team members will compete in a NCAA Qualifying meet on May 18 at UW-La Crosse. Falcons Run in Day One of WIAC Championships May 5, 2006 Charlie Sowa finished in forth place in the javelin throw with a toss of 167-03. Jason Phillippi got four points for the Falcons by finishing fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:26.57. In the 4x800 relay, the Falcons finished forth clocking in at 7:50.89. Clint Christy got off to a fast start in the decathlon. Christy finished in second place in the long jump and the shot put. Christy tied for first in the high jump and got a third place finish in the 400 meter dash. For the women, Vicki Cooper took third in the javelin throw with a toss of 110-10. Marlene Yaeger took fifth in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 38:11.73. Right behind her in sixth was Maria Michaud who finished in 38:21.62. Amanda Kozicky got three points for her team by taking sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:39.02. Holly Kromray also contributed to the team score by placing sixth in the pole vault with a vault of 10-09. The Falcons qualified two runners for Saturday's 100 meter hurdles final. Jessica Reed had the third best qualifing time finishing in 14.94. Brittany Smith also qualified for the finals. Smith also started strong in the heptathlon by taking second in the 100 meter hurdles and the 200 meter dash. The Falcons will finish the WIAC Championships on Saturday, May 6. Falcon Prepare For WIAC Meet at UW-Oshkosh May 3, 2006 Action starts Friday at 11:30 a.m., and continues on Saturday at 9 a.m. The Falcons will try to improve on finishes from the Indoor championships held in March at UW-Stevens Point. The women placed fifth and the men eighth. Several Falcons have performed well during the outdoor season and will try to convert that success into top performances at this weekend's meet. The strength for the women is in the throwing events. Krista Hasselquist has the third best throw of all competitors in the shot put (44-6) going into the conference meet. Vicki Cooper has shown talents in several field events; she has the fifth best throw in the hammer (143-8), the fourth best in the discus (140-7) and the fifth best in the javelin (106-10). Brittany Smith has also been a consistent performer in several events. She has the third best point total in the heptathlon (4,067), the multi event that pushes athletes hard during the two day meet. Holly Kromray has the fifth best pole vault (11-0 1/4) effort heading into the action this weekend. The Falcons are talented in the two hurdle events. Shannon Zweifel has the best time in the 400 hurdles (1:03.18) and Smith has the fourth best effort (1:04.89). In the 100 hurdles, Jessica Reed has the third best time (15.1) and Smith the fifth best (15.26). Marlene Yaeger will try to earn the Falcons points in the distance events. She has the fourth best time in the 5,000 (18:18.08) and the sixth best effort in the 10,000 (39:20.14). For the men, Jason Phillippi will try to earn points in the mid distance races. He has the seventh best time in the steeplechase (9:37.17) and the sixth best effort in the 1500 (3:59.85). Falcon Women Place Fifth at Malcalester, Men Run in Drake Alternative April 29, 2006 Jessica Reed won the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.2 seconds. The Falcons had two in the top three in the 400 meter hurdles. Shannon Zwiefel took second finishing in 1:04.4. Right behind her in third was Brittany Smith with a time of 1:06.3. The Falcon 4x100 relay team placed third finishing in 51.16. In the field events, Vicki Cooper finished third in the discus with a throw of 36.15 meters. Krista Hasselquist also finished third in her event, the shot put, with a throw of 12.52m. Hasselquist also had a forth place finish in the hammer throw with a toss of 40.60m. On the men's side, Mike Meissner won the 100 meter dash finishing in 11.31 seconds. Dave Jones had a nice showing at the meet. He tied for forth in the 200 meters with a time of 24.04, and took seventh in the 100 meters with a time of 11.95. The Falcons also had two men competing in the hammer throw. Eric Olson placed 14th with a throw of 136-03. Two places behind Olson was Dustin Jolicoeur in 16th with a throw of 134-01. Falcon Men Run at Macalester The Falcon men ran at the Macalester Men's Twilight Track & Field Meet in St. Paul, MN on April 26. No team scores were kept for the event. Charlie Sowa won the javelin throw event with a toss of 47.51 meters. The 4x200 meter relay team won their event clocking in at 43.40. The 4x400 meter relay team took second with a time of 3:33.45. Darrin Young finished third in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 56.06. Kevin McDonough took forth in the 800 meter with a time of 1:58.83. Mycola Kramper also took forth in his event, the pole vault, with a vault of 4.25 meters. Some of the women's team will be in Macalester for their meet on April 28 at 10:00 a.m. The rest of the team will be competing in the Drake Relays in Des Moines, IA on April 27-29.

Falcons compete in Blugold Outdoor Open The Falcons took to the track at Simpson Field at UW-Eau Claire to compete in the Blugold Outdoor Open on April 14. On the women's side, Shannon Zweifel won the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 63.18. Right behind her in second was Brittany Smith finishing in 64.89. Smith also had a third place finish in the 100 meter hurdles clocking in at 15.10. Krista Hasselquist won the shot put with a throw of 43-11.75. Marlene Yaeger took second in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 38:56.22. Behind her in second was Maria Michaud with a time of 39:45.39. The men's 4x400 relay team won their race finishing in 3:22.05. Jason Phillippi finished third in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:37.17. Mike Meissner also had a third place finish for the Falcons in the 100 meter dash. He finished in 11.20. Alex Wahlberg finished third in the long jump with a leap of 21-00.75. The Falcons will be back at home on April 22 for the Border Olympics, which will be held at the Ramer Track and Field Complex at 10:00 a.m.

Falcons run in Falcon Invitational The Falcons had a very good showing in their home meet, the UW-RF Invitational held on April 7th and 8th at Ramer Track & Field Complex. Dave Jones won the 400 meter dash with a time of 50.17. Jason Philippi won the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:04.77. Finishing right behind him in second was Scott Degner finishing in 4:07.47. Darrin Young took second in the 400 meter hurdles clocking in at 57.46. The Falcons took the top three spots in the steeplechase. Eric Nordgren won the event with a time of 10:23.25. Matt Olson placed second with a time of 10:25.90. Cary Cardinal finished third with a time of 10:37.13. Clint Christy won the decathlon with a score of 6114, which is also an NCAA Divsion III provisional qualifing mark. Shannon Zwiefel won the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 64.49. The Falcon 4x400 meter relay team won their race with a time of 4:12.84. Marlene Yaeger took second in the 5000 meter run with a time of 18:18.08. Krista Hasselquist placed second in the shot put with a toss of 41-9 1/4. Holly Kromray also had a second place finish for the Falcons in the pole vault with a vault of 10-3 1/4. Falcons Compete at Texas-San Antonio Relays March 18, 2006 Several members of the Falcon men's and women's track & field teams competed in the Texas-San Antonio Relays held on Saturday. Leading the men was Clint Christy who placed second in the long jump with a leap of 21-9 1/2, third in the triple jump with a leap of 42-8 1/4 and 12th in the 110 high hurdles in 16.28.Charlie Sowa placed sixth in the javelin with a toss of 153-2 and he was ninth in the high jump with a leap of 5-10. Erik Olson placed seventh in the shot put wiht a toss of 40-4 1/4 and he placed 11th in the discus with a throw of 131-2. Darren Young placed ninth in the 400 hurdles in 57.34.Mike Meissner placed 13th in the 100 in 11.23 and Dave Jones finished 18th in the 400 in 51.86. Scott Reise placed ninth in the 800 in 2:01.51 and Ben Kirmse placed 11th in the 1,500 in 4:13.41. Jason Phillippi ran an 8:54.61 to place sixth in the 3,000. Leading the women was Krista Hasselquist who placed second in the shot put with a toss of 43-0 1/4. Vicki Cooper also had a fine meet placing third in the javelin with a toss of 104-0. Brittany Smith placed eighth in the heptathlon with 3,814 points. Holly Kromray placed ninth in the pole vault with a leap of 10-6 and Jessica Reed placed ninth in the 100 high hurdles in 15.38. Sara Rudesill placed 11th in the 800 in 2:25.67 and Julie Markfort was 11th in the 400 hurdles in 1:10.81.Amy Piersak placed 21st in the 100 in 13.52. There were no team scores kept and this is the first outdoor meet of the season for the Falcons. UWRF will next host the Falcon Invitational on April 8 with events starting at 10 a.m., at the Ramer Field Track & Field Sports Complex. |

Hasselquist Places 9th at NCAA Meet March 14, 2006 Krista Hasselquist placed ninth in the shot put at the NCAA Div. III track & field meet last weekend at St. Olaf College. Hasselquist missed All-American Honors by one place. She threw the shot 43-8 3/4 to place ninth. Her best effort going into the meet was 43-1. |

Hasselquist to Compete in NCAA Indoor Meet March 6, 2006 Krista Hasselquist will compete in the NCAA track & field indoor championships to be held at St. Olaf College this weekend. She will compete in the shot put that is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. She has the 11th best throw in the nation at 43-1. The best throw in the nation is by Oshkosh's Robyn Jarocki of 53-2 3/4. There are 14 participants in the evert. Last weekend at the WIAC meet at Stevens Point, she placed sixth in the weight throw with a toss of 49-6 1/2. Her throw of 42-8 1/4 was good enough for third place in the shot put event. |

Falcon Women Place Fifth; Men Eighth at WIAC Indoor Championships March 6, 2006 The Falcon women placed fifth and the men eighth in the WIAC indoor track & field championships held Friday and Saturday at UW-Stevens Point. The women's team set four school records and the men's team set three. Krista Hasselquist will compete in the shot put at the NCAA Div. III meet this weekend at St. Olaf College. For the women, Jill Crandall won the pentathlon with 3,375 points. She ran the 800 in 2:31.19; she ran the 55 hurdles in 8.99; she leaped 5-4 1/2 in the high jump; 16-0 1/2 in the long jump and tossed the shot 35-8 3/4. Marlene Yaeger placed fourth in the 5,000 in 17:59.07 and sixth in the 3,000 in 10:27.43. Both are school records. The Falcons had three place winners in the 55 hurdles. Brittany Smith had a provisional qualifying time and a third place finish in 8.52. Jessica Reed placed fifth in 8.64 and Crandall placed sixth in 8.93. Smith's time was a school record. Holly Kromray placed in a tie for third in the pole vault with a leap of 10-8 1/4. Krista Hasselquist placed sixth in the weight throw with a toss of 49-6 1/2. It was a NCAA provisional qualifying throw. She also made a provisional mark in the women's shot put. Her throw of 42-8 1/4 was good enough for third place. Crandall took second in the high jump with a leap of 5-3 3/4. The Falcon 4x400 relay team of Julie Markfort, Crandall, Shannon Zweifel and Smith set a school record of 4:03.1. They placed fifth. The Falcons placed fifth overall with 64 points. Oshkosh won the team title with 179.5 followed by La Crosse 166.5, Eau Claire 113, Platteville 77.5, River Falls, Stevens Point 60.5, Whitewater 16, Stout 16 and Superior 8. Clint Christy led the men and finished third in the heptathlon with 4,850 points, a school record. He ran the 55 dash in 6.89; he leaped 21-11 1/2 in the long jump; he threw the shot 38-8 3/4; he leaped 6-2 in the high jump; he ran 8.45 in the 55 hurdles; he leaped 12-7 1/4 in the pole vault and he ran a 2:50.79 in the 1,000. He placed in a tie for eighth in the high jump with a leap of 6-2 and took third in the long jump with a school record leap of 22-6 1/2. The distance medley team of Jason Phillippi, Ben Kirmse, Kevin McDonough and ichael Zander provisionally qualified for the NCAA Div. III Nationals by winning the race in 10:12.61. The time was a school record. The Falcons placed eighth in the team standings with 29.5 points. La Crosse won the team title with 191 points followed by Whitewater 152, Oshkosh 123.5, Stevens Point 78.5, Platteville 52.5, Eau Claire 35, Stout 32, River Falls and Superior 8. |

Falcons race for indoor championship March 3, 2006 The Falcons competed in day one of the WIAC Indoor Championships held in Stevens Point. After day one, the Falcon men are in fifth place overall with 16 points. Clint Christy got off to a fast start in the men's heptathlon. Christy won both the shot put and long jump events. He also took third in the men's long jump with a leap of 6.87 meters. The distance medley team provisionally qualified for the NCAA Div. III Nationals by winning the race in 10:12.61. The women's team is in forth place after the first day with 22 points. Krista Hasselquist also made a provisional mark in the women's shot put. Her throw of 42- 08 1/4 was good enough for third place. Jill Crandall took second in the high jump with a leap of 5-03 3/4. Brittany Smith qualified for tomorrow's finals in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.55, which also was a NCAA provisional mark. Shannon Zweifel also qualified for the finals in the 400 finishing in 59.87. The final day of the WIAC Indoor Championships will be March 4 beginning at 9 a.m. |

Falcon men run in day two of Ole Open Feb. 25, 2006 It was the Falcon men's turn to take to the track in day two of the Ole Open in Northfield, MN. Like the women's meet, there were no team scores kept. Jason Phillipi won the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:33.51. Both the 4x200 and 4x400 relay teams took second with times of 1:34.80 and 3:31.47, respectively. Dave Jones took third in the 600 yard dash with a time of 1:15.59. Ben Kirmse placed third in the mile run finishing in 4:26.43. Bobby Hanson also had a third place finish in his event, the 5,000-meter run, finishing in 16:25.55. Clint Christy took third in the long jump with a leap of 21-02. The men and women's track and field teams will be together next week for the WIAC Indoor Championships, held in Stevens Point, beginning March 2.

Falcon women run in Ole Open Feb. 25, 2006 The Falcon women's track and field team ran on day one of the Ole Open held by St. Olaf in Northfield, MN. In the 200, Brittany Smith finished second with a time of 26.81. Marlene Yaeger also took second in her event, the 1,000-meters. She finished in 3:04.39. In the field events, Jill Crandall placed second in the high jump with a leap of 5-03. Holly Kromray finished second in the pole vault with a vault of 10-09. Krista Hasselquist had another good showing in the throwing events. Hasselquist took second in the shot put with a throw of 40-08 1/4. She also finished third in the weight throw with a toss of 46-03 1/4. No team scores were kept for this meet. The men will take their turn at the Ole Open on Saturday Feb. 25. The teams will be back together next week for the WIAC Indoor Championships in Stevens Point beginning on March 2. |

Falcons run in Blue Devil Open Feb. 18, 2005 The Falcon track and field teams, for the second time this season, ran at UW-Stout. This time for the Blue Devil Open. The men finished third as a team with a score of 78.5. The women placed forth with a score of 82.33. The men's 4x400 relay team won their race in 3:30.98. The 4x200 relay team took second with a time of 1:33.96. Michael Zander finished third in the 400 with a time 52.53. Bobby Hanson placed third in the 3,000 meters finishing in 9:35.29. Mycola Kamper vaulted his way to third in the pole vault with a vault of 14-01 1/4. On the women's side, Marlene Yaeger won the 3,000 with a time of 10:29.32. Krista Hasselquist had another good meet. She placed second in the shot put with a throw of 42-00 3/4. She also took second in the weight throw with a toss of 46-02 3/4. Holly Kromray tied for second in the pole vault with a vault of 10-02 1/2. The 4x400 relay team took second with a time of 4:14.04. Sara Rudesill finished third in the 800 clocking in at 2:25.86. Falcons look solid at home meet Feb. 11, 2005 The Falcon track and field teams were at home this weekend for the Coca Cola Classic held at the Knowles Building. Both teams had good outings on their home track. On the men's side, Kevin McDonough won the 800 with a time of 2:00.22. Finishing right behind him in second was Andrew Reckard clocking in at 2:02.43. Jason Philippi took second in the 3,000 meters finishing in 8:50.47. Darrin Young placed second in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 8.50. Rick Stewart had an excellent meet. He took second in the triple jump with a leap of 40-8 3/4. He also finished third in the 400 with a time of 53.08. Eric Olson finished second in his event, the shot put, with a throw of 44-2 1/2. Al Moore won the heptathlon with a score of 4,278. There were many good performances by the women's team at the home meet. Krista Hasselquist again made an NCAA provisional mark in the weight throw with a toss of 48-10. That was good enough to win the event. Hasselquist also made another NCAA provisional mark in the shot put with a throw of 42-7 1/2. That too was good enough for first place. Shannon Zwiefel won the 400 with a time of 1:01.03. Jessica Reed won the 55 meter hurdles clocking in at 8.73. Right behind her in second was Brittany Smith finishing in 8.74. Smith also took second in the long jump with a leap of 16-3 3/4. She also took second in the triple jump with a leap of 34-11. Jill Crandall won the pentathlon with a score of 2,636. Sara Rudesill placed second in the 800 with a time of 2:24.40. Amanda Kozicky also took second in the mile run with a time of 5:28.75. Maria Michaud gave the Falcons another second place finish, this time in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:48.92. The Falcons finished first and second in the 4x400. The first place team finished in 4:18.69. The second place team finished with a time of 4:23.79. Next week, the Falcons will be back on the road. This time, they will be making their second trip to UW-Stout on Feb. 17 starting at 10:00 a.m.

| Falcons compete in MSU-Mankato Open Feb. 5, 2005 The Falcon track and field teams particiated in the MSU-Mankato Open held in Mankato, Minn. on February 4. The field was very deep and included a few division two schools. The men's team fared reasonably well in their meet. The distance medley relay team finished fifth with a time of 10:54.88. Eric Olson had a fine meet for the Falcons. He took eighth in the shot put with a throw of 46-06.25. He also finished ninth in the weight throw with a toss of 41-11.25. Kevin McDonough placed ninth in the 1,000-meters with a time of 2:40.08. For the women, the field was a little deeper because the University of Minnesota competed in the event. Krista Hasselquist had another outstanding meet. Hasselquist took second in the weight throw with a toss of 49-05.75. She also placed forth in the shot put with a throw of 41-10. Brittany Smith had another good outing finishing fifth in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 8.71. She also took eighth in the triple jump with a leap of 35-03.25. Sara Rudesill placed sixth in the 1,000-meters clocking in at 3:07.58. No team scores were kept for either meet. The Falcon track and field teams will be at home next week competing in the Coca Cola Classic in River Falls on Feb. 11. |

Falcons Perform Well in First Meet Jan. 21, 2006 Several good performances were turned in to start the season. Amy Piersak placed second in both the 55-meters (7.83) and 200-meters (28.19). Brittany Smith toook first place in the 400 in 63.43 and in the long jump with a leap of 14-11 1/2. Molly Larson won the 800 in 2:30.4 and Jessica Reed took the top spot in the 55 hurdles (9.11). Krista Hasselquist won first place in the shot (43-1) and the weight throw (47-0 1/4). Jill Crandall won the high jump (5-1) and Holly Kromray won the pole vault (9-8). For the men, Michael Zander won the 400 in 52.39 and Kevin McDonough won the 800 in 2:04. Jason Phillippi won the mile in 4:24.63 and Darrin Young won the 55 hurdles in 8.55. In the field events, Clint Christy won the long jump with a leap of 20-11 1/4 and Eric Olson won the shot put with a toss of 43-8 1/2. Al Moore took first in the high jump with a leap of 6-2 and Mycola Kramper won the pole vault with a leap of 13-9 1/4. |
