Ashley Bertrand (So., St. Paul, Minn. Como Park HS) helped lead the Falcons to a split in two WIAC games against UW-Superior last week. Bertrand improved her record to 14-11 with a 2-0 win in the first game of the double header. She pitched four innings and allowed three hits - all singles. She didn't walk a batter and struck out three. In the two games she pitched eight innings and allowed four earned runs and eight hits. She struck out six and didn't walk a batter. She has a 2.25 ERA this year.

First baseman Amanda Peters (So., Pepin, Wis.) led the Falcons in a split with UW-Superior last week. In game one, a 2-0 win for the Falcons, she was 2-3 at the plate and knocked in both runs in the fourth inning with a single. In the second game she went 2-3 at the plated in a 7-1 loss. She was 4-6 at the plate with two RBI. She handled 12 chances in the field with no errors. She is hitting .308 this year with 20 RBI.

Ashley Bertrand (So., St. Paul, Minn. Como Park HS) pitched the bulk of the innings for the Falcons last week as the team finished with a 4-4 record. The right-hander worked 38 of the team's 54 innings and finished with a 4-4 record with a 2.21 ERA. She started six games and one a complete game 6-2 win over Platteville. She allowed 25 runs, 12 were earned, and 41 hits. She struck out 39 and walked only 10. Opponents hit .277 against her. She pitched six innings in a 4-0 shutout win over Stout.

Third baseman Emily Howlett (So., Eagan, Minn.) was the top hitters in the team's eight games last week. The Falcons finished 4-4. Howlett was 9-26 at the plate and finished with a .346 average. She had a .731 slugging percentage with two doubles, a triple and two home runs. She had four RBI and scored six runs. She had one sacrifice fly and one sacrifice bunt. The 5-4 sophomore had three putouts and 15 assists in the field. Howlett hit a home run in a 7-5 loss to Platteville and in a 13-4 loss to St. Scholastica.

Brittany Rathbun (So., Rochester, Minn. Mayo HS) pitched in three of the team's four games last week. She set a school record picking up her fifth save of the season in the team's 4-1 win over Hamline. She also holds the school record for career saves with nine. For the week Rathbun pitched 14.1 innings and had a 1.88 ERA. The right-hander allowed 16 hits and only three earned runs. She walked only two and struck out nine. She pitched all eight innings in the team's 7-3 eight-inning loss to UW-Eau Claire on Friday. In that game she allowed seven runs, but only three were earned. She walked two and struck out three.

Shortstop Mindy Rudiger (Fr., Menomonie, Wis.) hit safely in all four games for the Falcons last week as the team finished with a 2-2 record. The right-handed hitter was 6-13 (.462) at the plate with four runs scored. She also stole two bases in as many attempts. Rudiger, the team's leadoff hitter, is second on the team in hitting this year with a .390 average.

Right-hander Ashley Bertrand (So., St. Paul, Minn. Como Park HS) started four of the team's six games last week and finished with a 1-1 record. She appeared in five games and pitched 13 innings. She had a 2.77 ERA for the week. She allowed 13 hits and opponents hit .260 against her. Bertrand allowed five runs and four were earned. She walked only four and struck out 15. She picked up a win in the team's 4-2 win at Whitewater on Sunday. In that game she pitched four innings and allowed four hits and no runs. She walked one and struck out three. In 2006 she has a 7-5 record with a 2.33 ERA.

First baseman Amanda Peters (So., Pepin, Wis.) had six solid games in the field and at the plate for the Falcons last week. The team finished 3-3 in the six contests. She started every game (five at first base, one in right field) and hit .524. She was 11-21 with six runs scored. The 11 hits were the most by a Falcon during the week. She had two doubles, a triple and eight RBI. She had a .714 slugging percentage and a .500 on-base percentage. Peters handled 33 chances in the field with no errors. This year she is hitting .324 with 10 runs scored and 13 RBI.

Brittany Rathbun (So., Rochester, Minn. Mayo HS) pitched in three of the team's four games at the Coe Classic tournament where the Falcons finished 2-2. She pitched 12 1/3 innings and allowed four runs, but only one was earned and had a 0.57 ERA for the weekend. She allowed 11 hits, walked only three and struck out 11. She picked up her third save of the season, and seventh of her career, in a 4-0 win over Mt. Mercy. She pitched the final three innings in that game and allowed two hits. She walked two and struck out four.

Second baseman Breamber Syverson (Jr., Prescott, Wis.) started all four games for the Falcons at the Coe Classic tournament where the Falcons finished 2-2. She was 5-9 at the plate for a .555 average. She scored two runs, stole two bases and had three sacrifices batting in the No. 2 spot in the lineup. In the field she had a perfect weekend with 10 putouts and six assists.

Starter Ashley Bertrand (So., St. Paul, Minn. Como Park HS) led the team's pitching staff at the Rebel Spring Games played in Florida last week. The Falcons finished with a 5-5 record and Bertrand was 3-2. She pitched in all 10 games and started nine. She had one complete game. In the team's win over Franklin & Marshall, she combined with Brittany Rathbun to throw a no-hitter. Bertrand pitched 36 innings and had a 1.75 ERA. She allowed 29 hits and 10 runs. She walked only nine and struck out 26. Opponents hit just .221 against her.

Player
Outfielder Amanda Wojnowiak (So., Big Lake, Minn.) played an important role in helping the Falcons to a 5-5 record at the Rebel Spring Games played in Florida last week. She started all 10 games and hit .412. She was 14-34 at the plate with four doubles and 11 RBI. She led the team in both categories. She finished with a .529 slugging percentage and a .444 on-base percentage. She stole three bases and played perfect in the field with 10 putouts and one assist. She made a diving catch of a sinking line drive in the team's 4-3 eight-inning win over Otterbein. Against Macalester she was 4-5 with three runs scored and three RBI. Against MCLA she was 3-3 with two runs scored and five RBI.
