Meet the Falcons

Nate Hansen Nate Hansen returns for his senior season with the Falcons in 2005-06 and gives the team game experience. He is a versatile player who can play forward or defense.

Dan Meneghin Dan Meneghin returns for his senior season with the Falcons in 2005-06. He is a respected veteran who gives the Falcons great talents in the nets.

Mike Salmela Mike Salmela is a familiar named to Falcon hockey fans and returns to the team for the 2005-06 season and will play defense. He competed for the team in 2002 and 2003. He then concentrated on his studies because he would like to eventually go to medical school.

Andy Scanlon Andy Scanlon returns to the Falcons for his senior and final season in 2005-06. His goaltending skills will play a big role for the Falcons during the season.

Andy Jurek Andy Jurek returns to the Falcons for his third season in 2005-06. He will again play an important role for the team as a defenseman.

Tyler Kostiuk Tyler Kostiuk is in his third year with the Falcons in 2005-06 and gives the team solid play as a forward.

Jared Sailer Jared Sailer is back for his third year in 2005-06 for the Falcons. He plays forward and has shown steady improvement throughout his UW-RF career.

Aaron Venasky Aaron Venasky is a solid two-way player who returns for his third season with the Falcons in 2005-06. He plays forward.

Joe Adams Joe Adams got plenty of playing time late in the season last year and will be looked upon to carry that success into his second year with the Falcons in 2005-06./ He plays forward.

Pat Borgestad Pat Borgestad will benefit from being with the Falcons from the start of the 2005-06 season, his second year with the team. He plays forward.

AJ Bucchino AJ Bucchino is in his first year with the Falcons and plays the goaltending position. He played the 2002-03 and 2004-05 seasons at Des Moines of the USHL. The left handed catching keeper played the 2003-04 season at the University of New Hampshire. In the 2002-03 season he had a 3.52 goals against average and a .909 saves percentage in 35 games. Bucchino was named the USHL's Goalie of the Month in March and was twice named the league's Defensive Player of the Week. He played 40 games in the 2004-05 season with the junior team and had a 3.89 goals against average and an .888 saves percentage. He helped his prep school win two high school championships and was twice named the Most Valuable Player at Tilton. He was twice named to the All-Star team. He lists his biggest high school hockey thrill as winning two prep school championships and his biggest junior hockey thrill as competing in the 2003 USHL playoffs against Waterloo. He is the son of Iris and Joe and has two brothers and one sister. Bucchino is majoring in psychology. |

TJ Dahl TJ Dahl was a key part of the Falcon offense last year and is back for his second season with the Falcons. He is a talented forward who has solid offensive skills.

Josh Hansen Josh Hansen is another talented forward who is in his second year with the Falcons. He will help the team with his play in both ends of the rink from his forward position in 2005-06.

Wade Harstad Wade Harstad is back for his second collegiate hockey season for the Falcons and plays the forward position.

Jim Henkemeyer Jim Henkemeyer had a good first year for the Falcons and returns for another season in 2005-06. He will help the Falcons with his play on the blue line.

Jason Usher Jason Usher demonstrated outstanding all-around skills at the blue line last year and will be an important player in his second year playing defense in 2005-06.

DJ Clark DJ Clark comes to the Falcons for his first year of collegiate hockey in 2005-06 and plays forward. He played junior hockey at Texarkana in the NAHL. In 2005 he played in 52 games and scored four goals and 12 points. He was named the team's Most Improved Player in 2004. At Spring Lake Park High School he was his team's leading scorer, captain, Most Valuable Player and earned a spot on the all-conference team in 2003. He won the team's Mr. Hustle Award three times. He was an Academic Honors graduate. He lists his biggest junior hockey thrill as trailing a team, 3-1, with five minutes to play and his team scoring two goals to force overtime. The team trailed in a shoot out, 3-0, but rebounded to take a 4-3 win. He is the son of Deb and Dave and has two sisters. Clark is majoring in health & human performance. |

Derek Hansberry Derek Hansberry joins the Falcons for the 2005-06 season and will play forward. He played junior hockey at Wichita Falls of the NAHL. In 2005 he played 50 games and scored 16 goals and 33 points. He was the team's Unsung Hero Award winner in 2004 and was an alternate captain. In 2005 he was an alternate captain and earned honorable mention for the team's Player of the Week award. He lists his biggest junior hockey thrill as scoring two short-handed goals in the first round of the league playoffs against Texas. He is the son of Jeannette and Brian and has one brother and one sister. Hansberry is majoring in business administration. |

Eric Hansen Eric Hansen joins the Falcons for the 2005-06 season as a first year collegiate player and will play defense. Last year he played at Texarkana in the NAHL and in 57 games scored five goals and 23 points. He also played junior hockey at Fairbanks and Central Texas. While playing at Fairbanks he helped that team to the National playoffs. At Austin High School he was named to the Minnesota All-State team in 2003. He was the team's captain as a senior, in 2003, and was named to the all-conference team for three straight seasons. He lists his biggest high school hockey thrill as playing in the Minnesota State Tournament in 2001. He is the son of Joni and Lee and has three brothers. Brother Nate played for the Falcons from 2002-05 and brother Josh is a member of this year's Falcon squad. Hansen is undecided on a major field of study. |

Ross Johnson Ross Johnson is in his first year of collegiate hockey with the Falcons in 2005-06 and plays forward. He played junior hockey at Bozeman of the NAHL. In 55 games he scored 21 goals and finished with 38 points. He played at International Falls High School where he was named to the all-conference team in 2002 and 2003. He lists his biggest high school hockey thrill as playing in the Minnesota State Tournament in 2000 and 2002. He is the son of Liz and Steve and has one sister. Johnson is undecided on a major field of study. |

Lance Malark Lance Malark is in his first year with the Falcons in 2005-06 and plays forward. He played junior hockey at Fargo-Moorhead of the NAHL and helped that team to a second place finish in the National Tournament. He played in 46 games and scored 18 goals and finished with 40 points. He also played at White Bear Lake High School where he was named to the all-conference team in for four seasons. He was named to the All-State team in 2003. He was the Bears' Rookie of the Year in 2000. He is the son of Cheryl and Andrew and has one sister. Malark is undecided on a major field of study. |

Josh
Meyers Josh Meyers is in his first year of college hockey for the Falcons and will play defense. He played at Bozeman of the NAHL. In 2005 he played in 41 games and finished with two goals and nine points. He won the team's Best Defenseman award. At International Falls High School he was twice named to the all-conference team and twice won the defenseman Best Plus/Minus award. He earned a spot on the A Honor Roll. Meyers lists his biggest high school hockey thrill as playing in the Minnesota State Tournament. He is the son of Tina and Kelly and has one sister. Meyers is majoring in conservation. |

Chris Nathe Chris Nathe is in his first year with the Falcons and plays defense. He played junior hockey with the Tri-City Storm in the USHL. Last year he played in 58 games and scored nine goals and 37 total points. He played hockey at Elk River High School and helped the team win the Minnesota State Championship in his senior season in 2001. He is the son of Julie and Ron and has two sisters. Nathe is majoring in business administration. |

Chris Robinson Chris Robinson joins the Falcons for his first year of collegiate hockey and plays defense. He played junior hockey at Lincoln in the USHL last year. In 2005 the stay at home defenseman played in 46 games and scored one goal and finished with two points. Before that he was a captain at Danville, a team also in the USHL. He is the son of Robin and Ron and has two brothers and two sisters. Robinson is undecided on a major field of study. |

Robby Spalding Robby Spalding is in his first year with the Falcons in 2005-06 and plays defense. At Roseville High School he earned honorable mention to the all-conference team for three seasons. He was named his team's Rookie of the Year and was an assistant captain in his senior year in 2005. He lists his biggest high school hockey thrill as beating the defending Minnesota State Champions, Centennial, 3-2 in overtime in 2005. He is the son of Jennifer and Todd and has three brothers. Spalding is undecided on a major field of study. |

Devin Underwood Devin Underwood joins the Falcons for his first year of collegiate hockey and he will play the forward position. He played junior hockey at Helena and was the team's captain. He was named the team's Most Improved Player in his rookie season. He earned the team's Hitman and Most Inspiration awards for three straight years. He lists his biggest junior hockey thrill as scoring a hat trick, with a game-winning goal, in the league playoffs. He is the son of Rachel and Darrell and has one brother and one sister. Underwood is majoring in physics
