The Falcon men's hockey team is on an eight game unbeaten streak and emotions are high. Junior forward Jared Sailer is ready to keep the team on track and cruise for hopefully a National Championship.
Sailer debuted in hockey at the age of four and never took off the skates.

I played a lot of hockey growing up," said Sailer. "In the summer I liked to play a lot of golf and soccer.  But hockey was my main thing."

Sailer stayed home and played for Fernie of the AWHL at the junior level and had great success.  He played alongside Falcon teammate Tyler Kostiuk. During his time at juniors, Sailor led the league in goals with 46 in the 2003 campaign to go along with 36 helpers.

"The highlight from Fernie is definitely winning the championship," said Sailer.

Sailer was recognized for his play and was named a first-team all-star in the AWHL.  He also earned respect from his teammates and was names Co-Most Valuable Player of the team.

River Falls came knocking on Sailer's door once they realized his talent.

"The Falcon coaches did a great job of recruiting me and showed me how great the school was," said Sailer.

For the Falcons, Sailer has had a successful career over his three-year tenure.

As a freshman, Sailer recorded four goals and two assists. Of the four scores, one was a shot that put away St. Scholastica, 3-2.

"Making the NCAA tournament my freshman year was a huge moment and I will always remember that time. I want to get back to that point before I am done here," said Sailer.

Sailer improved in his second year and put in six goals and five assists. Following the season he was named the team's Most Improved Player.

"Jared has been great for us," said Falcon Coach Steve Freeman. "He's a hard worker and really gives us a strong effort when he is out there."

This season, Sailer has recorded three goals and four assists in his 15 appearances. He looks to give the team a strong effort the rest of the way and get a chance at going deep into the playoffs.

When asked what he has learned from Freeman, Sailer replied, "Just keeping a great attitude and playing hard night in and night out."

In his spare time he likes to read and play video games.

Sailer is majoring in marketing and plans on graduating after next year.

"I'm basically a straight forward guy," said Sailer.  "I play some sports, play video games, and go to school."
